Budget Travel - Cheap hotels in Europe
More specifically looking for a stay in downtown Vienna for the first week of June.
I can find great deals all over North America but nothing in Europe. Am I missing something? Looking at the Hotels Deals forum, seems that again, it's pretty much all NA for great deals. $10 off for 3 nights isn't that great when a stay in Vienna is over $250/night.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Edit: Thx for moving the thread

Perhaps, you will be better served if this thread is moved to the FT Budget Travel Forum.

I think you need to provide a little more information if you want help here. What is your limit to spend per night? $100 or less maybe more than that. It would be nice to specify exactly when in the first week of June you will be staying there. Are you fixed into the downtown area of Vienna? You can always use their metro system and save a few dollars by staying away from the expensive city center.
Have you looked at the Hotel Deals page and this thread that was stickied:

Looking at some of the past priceline wins for Vienna on better bidding, they all seem to be around $100+ (not including tax) for 4 and five star hotel wins. If you have the twitter coupon $50 promo that will knock some off the price as well.
Landing on the 4th of June and leaving on the 8th of June.
Looking for a something in the $140 range or so, downtown if at all possible.
I'll have a look at the codes you mentioned and see if I can pull something out.
Thanks for the help

Bidding via Priceline this year is often yielding deals far better than the last few years have produced. The new kid on the block, the NH hotels, is showing up a lot with great rates. Don't be shy about starting lower with your bidding than wins of a year or more ago.
Also, have you looked at www.venere.com? If there is anything interesting there, you often can find a 4% off coupon via a search on "venere promo".

Not sure if this is these are the types of accommodation you are looking for but have you checked out Eurocheapo.com (http://www.eurocheapo.com/vienna/)? I haven't been to Vienna but have used them for other cities in Europe with good success.

I can thoroughly agree with Eurocheapo being a handy resource. ^

I have had good experiences in Vienna with Accor hotels. I used to go to an Ibis near Westbahnhof, but there are several Mercure and Novotel around the city. Rates were usually under 100 euros. My Ibis was not a top end hotel, but convenient for me.

I have often found good deals at www.booking.com and www.gtahotels.com . I just booked a room in Vienna at a 4* in a good location for US$74 per night in July.
