I'm trying to redeem my Etihad guest miles.I can redeem 75000 miles for a flight from MAN to BKK,but I am being offered an "open" seat ( as opposed to a "guest" seat ) for 57844.Does anyone know if this is inferior? If there is no difference I can save 17156 miles.I can take either on the same flights and dates, with no longer stopover time in AUH.Any advice will be appreciated.

You should grab the open seat quick before it disappears!

the 'seat' is exactly the same, it's just that the "GuestSeats" are the normal inventory-controlled allocation of redemption seats, whereas the "OpenSeats" are available at the normal commercial equivalent price in miles - which is nearly always higher than the cost of a GuestSeat. It must just be that for your particluar flight and date, there's a cheaper alternative available! You still sit in exactly the same seat!

Go for it!
Cheers

when booking an award flight with miles on EY, is there a fuel surcharge that applies?

chris
