An interesting promotion with Delta Airlines.

10,000 choice points now convert to 4000 Sky miles.

Its a 100% bonus.

http://www.choicehotels.com/delta?sid=bSXe.Is1ISgXuog.4

So instead of a 1:5 ratio , its a 1:2.5.

Does not seem capped.

Now if Delta actually offered awards at standard level, it would be a good value.

Good this month and June.

Just a heads up...I tried to take advantage of this, but the website just refers me to customer service. I e-mailed them two days ago, but never received a response. Another poster on a different forum suggested calling...

Thanks for the heads up, but aren't DL miles just about worthless? At least that's my impression. Aren't 25K redemptions quite difficult to get?

10000 Choice points will get you a decent Choice room (sometimes 1.66 decent Choice rooms), or, in my case, 3.33 WN RR credits, worth at least $100 to me as I push for my Companion Pass renewal.

Obviously it depends on individual needs. I won't be partaking, but it is appealing under certain conditions. For example, an AGR member could transfer 25K AGR to 30K DL/NW.

Are you transfer eligible?
"Members must have a stay at a Choice hotel or points posted from their Visa card since January 1, 2007, to qualify to redeem points for rewards other than free nights at Choice hotels."

(I can redeem online. It looks like this: http://img6.imageshack.us/img6/3571/screenhunter09may061546.jpg)

DL miles are worthless, NW miles are better (which you can transfer from DL at no cost), but probably are getting worthless.

One benefit might be that NW miles don't expire, also, when you transfer to DL then to NW, it might count as a qualifying activity for their Piles On Miles promo.

Thanks, OP. I transferred 20K CP points expiring this year to DL, and soon to NW. The post below is right, it's not worthless. Plus, I did the transfer myself, :)

DL miles are worthless,
That's quite an exaggeration.
DL redemptions can be tricky, but the miles aren't worthless.

Redemptions start at 5,000 Choice points = 1,000 + 1,000 bonus = 2,000 SkyMiles.

It is an interesting promotion to consider if the "Partner Activity" carries you to the next threshold for "Partner Activity" bonus of 2,000 SkyMiles.

So, you have 7 Partner Activities. Redeem 5,000 Choice points for 1,000 + 1,000 (100% bonus) + 2,000 (Partner Activity Bonus) = 4,000 SkyMiles.

I would say 4,000 SkyMiles is worth more than 5,000 Choice points.

Has anyone taken advantage of this promotion and received the miles in their Delta account? The Choice points were deducted immedialtey, but I've been waiting nearly four weeks for the miles to post to my Delta account.

The Choice website states "please allow 6-8 weeks for Airline Rewards to post to your airline account."

I don't think I've ever had to wait that long when redeeming from Choice to airline miles. Maybe a week at most. A recent redemption to Northwest took a couple of days.

I would say 4,000 SkyMiles is worth more than 5,000 Choice points.

I figure this way...

4000 miles = ~ 15% towards a 25,000 mile award. If you calculate at 2 cents per mile, that's $80. YMMV.

In the real world, I value Choice points at a half cent. This makes the 5000 points worth $25. YMMV.

If you value your miles less, and your Choice points more, YMMV. ;)

You don't understand. Transfer don't take a particular (fixed) amount of time. The happen at certain frequencies, and how long they take varies by when your transfer request (or hotel stay that earns miles directly) takes place relative to the next transfer window.

My experience is that Choice to NW may take place as rarely as once a month.

(Btw, my experience to NW is similar with other partners of theirs. For example, AAdvantage Dining from Rewards Network transfers to AA once a week, and so do several other ailines' dining programs, but Dining for Miles from Rewards Network transfers to NW only once a month.)

My last earned-directly-to-NW stay (for the Pile on Miles promo) took several weeks, presumably because I stayed soon after the previous monthly transfer happened, and thus had to wait for another month. Had I timed my stay a week or two later, though, it might have posted in less than week.

That's why random transfer times anecadotes are irrelevant noise, not statistics, unless you've kept track of what days of the week/month you initiaited each transfer (and did lots of transfers on different days of the week/month) to make sure you were aware of the exact transfer frequency and schedule between that pair of partners. (And any such statistics are stilll only good for that one pair of partners, since each pairing of partners may have a different transfer frequency/schedule.)

If I want to transfer a large number of points (say 25k) do I have to do 5 individual transaction if I want to do it online? Would it be better to call and just transfer the whole amount?

Thanks, OP and recent posters!
I almost missed this, barely a week to go.

My 5600 pts are pretty much orphaned,
2000 DL are definitely not worthless.

Tried to redeem online, but got error. Said to call.
I call, office closed.

Website still unable to process in morning,
called in, helpful agent redeemed my 5000 for 2000 DL.
She did say to expect 4-6 weeks.

NB: This offer expires Jun 25 if it works for you.

OK, my points came out of Choice on May 14, I've waited the 6-8 weeks, and now it's been a full two months and they haven't posted to Delta. What's happened with others here? Where do I follow up on this? It needs to count as a pre-June 22 transaction for DL's Pile on the Miles.

Call Choice, or email them. Tell 'em your problem. Ask what Delta SkyMiles number was used to transfer the points-to-miles. If the account number was wrong, inquire as to how Choice wants to handle it. If the account number is correct, ask Choice to get with Delta on your behalf. Give them a few days. Then follow up. Smilie.

A reasonable approach, thanks. I called, confirmed that the number was right; the person I got needed to escalate it and asked if they could call back. I was going out, but gave them answering machine and e-mail options. I didn't get a reply, but I logged into SkyMiles and see the miles posted, listed as 25 May in the Date column, but in the Description "(posted on 15Jul2009)"; I'll presume I'm o.k. as far as the activity date.

So, a good resolution, but I'll say that I started another thread about how long it takes, was referred to this one, which I was aware of and it didn't give a full answer; since the question was open, I was hoping that someone would post when the DL miles did post, as I would have done...
