Miles & More (Lufthansa, Austrian, Swiss, and other partners) - Extend Senator status if job loss / medical leave?

I have a question, because i remember reading it. if someone wouldn't be able to fly much this year because of illness or job loss, would M&M consider extending status? For example, if Senator status runs out Feb 2010, would they extend it for a further year or two? How would I go about doing this? I remember reading somewhere that they do so in case of extended leaves, or maternity leave. i called the swiss sen number and they had no clue ... i'm sure i'm not the only one that would ask for this ...

Isn't that why they allow you to requalify in just one of the TWO years prior to status expiration? Without knowing any details about your situation, it seems like two straight years of low activity would not be considered "temporary" due to illness or job loss.

you can pay for a one year extension, it's about 2000 Euro.

IIRC you can at least extend status if you have a small child and are on parental leave for a certain time. At least my cousin (SEN) claimed to have done this. LH was quite generous with her extension.

The maternity/paternity SEN extension has been reported quite a few times but there is no (longer) fixed rule about this at M&M. I guess you can plead your case and hope for the best.
