Hi,

I am planning on going to Paris in the Middle of July from San Francisco and tickets are around $1000 round trip right now. Is this a good price, should I wait?

Thanks!

No, that's pretty good. The lowest you should expect to find would be around $750 and those were likely for sale a month or two ago. Right now fares should be trending up and stay there - lest there be low sales and they decide to do some cuts, but you can't hedge your bets on that.

I purchased tickets in January for my trip to Paris in June and they've slowly been going up since I purchased them. I have an open-jaw involving VCE so my fare is higher then a Paris round trip, but I distinctly remember the fares only getting down to $750 for rt before going back up.

You didn't say your dates, but for random July ones, there seem to be $930s out there - Kayak and the airline web sites.

Not huge, but will buy a couple croissants and espressos.

And if you are OK with any major airline and any time of day, you could consider bidding via Priceline?

$903 using the third strike.

Third strike?

Checked glossary.

Searched on "third strike".

Checked www.thirdstrike.com

OK, I give.

Tell me I'm a dummy, rather than our newbie OP (newbie - that stands for Original Poster). I can handle it, and we probably both need to know.

Thanks humbly,
Romelle

"Third Strike" is a technique discussed in the Mileage Run forum.... a great technique that has save me about $300 on each of my two Australia mileage runs.

If you'd like to answer the question though, that'd be appreciated.

Thanks for information! Delta has $900 R/T from SJC - CDG July 15-22. It seems like that is as good as it is going to get. I can handle $50 either way, but i hate to see it go down a couple hundred dollars.

You might want to check out a package. From San Jose to Paris on 7/15, with 6 nights at the Comfort Hotel Mouffetard (which is supposed to be a good budget hotel), it prices out at $1575 for one person. Which I think is pretty good. Flying on CO using go-today.com

Alternatively, you might want to go on gate1.com's vacation builder and try to price out a vacation with one night at a hotel you have no interest in and see if it's cheaper than the airfare through normal channels alone. Or is it gate1travel.com? I can't remember.
