I was trying to get a room near SFO in August (why you may ask?).

It was because I needed to spend approx $60 to get my free Visa card travel insurance.

So I went to my erstwhile friend, captain Kirk, who just said NO.

I then went to Expedia.com.au (note, not .com) and got a nice deal for AUD 80 - work it out.

So the negotiator let me down. You have to wonder.

You're probably a little early trying to bid for August... Many hotels would not have released their available inventory by this date, hoping to sell the rooms at a higher price.

What star level hotel were you bidding on and what hotel did you get through Expedia? Quite frankly it's impossible to provide a relevant comment on your post without those two key pieces of information.

What date were you trying for?

Were you picky about what level of hotel? Or did you just want one in the airport zone?

What is free travel insurance? Why do you have to put $60 on a Visa card to get something for free? What did "the negtiator" do to let you down? Are you angry at "the negotiator" or disappointed or in need of reconciliation? As has been said in other contexts, we want to help you help yourself.

The Negotiator was probably still upset over not being offered a cameo in the new 'Star Trek' movie (opening Friday), therefore, he was not able to concentrate on his price chopping duties. ;)

Sorry to hear of your rejection. Next time bid $300 for a night in two star hotel and come out a big winner. Forget about the overweight over-the-hill t tv guy with the phony hair and put your trust in FT.

Hi guys,

Thanks for all your nice comments.

I've been flying from LHR to SYD and back a couple of times recently, so I haven't really felt like logging on to FT until now.

But I did book three days at the LAX Radisson in July for $47++ a night, courtesy of the Negotiator, which I don't think is too shabby.

It just seems that San Francisco hotels are holding off at the moment. It's their loss.

:)
