Starwood Preferred Guest - Would SPG match/upgrade my Accor a-club Gold status?

I currently have Gold status in the Accor a-club loyalty programme. Does anyone know if Starwood would status match/upgrade my newly registered SPG card?
I am planning to spend quite a few nights at Starwood hotels in the future, so this would be very beneficial to me.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks!

Hi Overlord -
Starwood only matches those it considers to be major competitors, such as Marriott and Hilton. I'm afraid Accor is not one of those companies.

I have to agree. Accor hotels are pretty low budget/low end.

While Accor does have more budget/low end hotels than Starwood, it also has Sofitel which I would put above all SPG hotels except St. Regis in terms of quality of the properties. They have a few duds (MIA and ORD), but mostly they are excellent (e.g. Sofitel NY > all SPG hotels in NY except St. Regis, IMHO).
That said, the A-Club program is not a credible competitor to SPG; of all the frequent stay programs I belong to (all the majors) it is by far the most poorly run. So I can see why SPG would not match A-Club status.
So it might match Marriott gold?

So it might match Marriott gold?
To my recollection SPG matches the highest tiers of Hilton, Marriott and Hyatt.

Dearest GIJ,
Starwood Preferred Guest considers these types of requests from Hyatt Diamond, Marriott Platinum, and Hilton Diamond members only.
