SAS EuroBonus - Change SAS tickets purchased via Priceline

I’m looking for advice on the best way to proceed with getting the return leg of my SAS tickets changed. I’m a worried mother - pretty desperate and willing to pay a change fee if within reason. I’m dealing with 3 tickets for OSL-CPH-ORD-MSP, all leaving on 5/29/09.

- Ticket #1 was purchased directly from SAS late last year. Flight leaves at 1 PM and arrives MSP at 10 PM same day.
- Tickets #2 and #3 were purchased last month from Priceline. That flight leaves at 10 PM and arrives MSP at 11 PM on the next day.

I need to change tickets #2 and #3 to coincide with #1. Based on posts I’ve read here, I’m reluctant to call SAS and ask them if I can do this for fear they will say ‘no’ and ‘mark my record,’ preventing further opportunity to seek help from the staff at the airport. I’m waffling between with the following two options:

1. Contact SAS now, to maximize the chance that there might be two open seats on the earlier flight. I’m anticipating that the Priceline element will prevent them from being able to make any changes, and it seems evident that Priceline will not allow any changes whatsoever. True?

2. Wait until arrival at OSL on 5/16 and ask for help from the ticket counter there. I’m concerned, however, that the longer I wait, the less chance there will be for open seats.

I’m so hoping that one of you experienced travelers might be able to provide an educated opinion on the best option. I’d appreciate it very much!

When you buy a ticket you enter into a contract, in the case of Priceline you enter into an agreement with Priceline, and SAS. So if you read the rules they put up for you, you will know what your options are "within the agreement" you have entered into.

Now that said, I would call SAS - First I have no reason to believe they would "flag" your records for asking what your options are, and if the agent is willing to work with you here - therefore know the rules of the fare you bought before calling so you know where you as a bare minimum stand.

But really, call them - most of the scandinavian crew are pretty reasonable, actually in my opinion often better than the US numbers that often redirect you to some outsourced call center where they really "stick with the script"

Welcome to FT!

Did you 'priceline' the tickets by bidding for a certain price and later discovering that they were on SAS or did you book them upfront just like on a normal travel site?

If it was the latter, the ticket is just a regular booking and can be changed against a change fee. SK USA is pretty nice about it. Just call the regular number.

I did not bid on these tickets - just purchased them outright. I read and acknowledged the 'black and white' at the time I booked and, as usual, life happens while you're busy planning for it. I came here looking for help with the 'grey' from some experienced travelers and I sincerely thank for your advice. I will be calling SAS.

...life happens while you're busy planning for it.

And this is one reason for why air carriers give you the option to buy full priced flexible tickets...

Anyway, I hope all will go in your favour and that you get all flights sync'd.

Good luck and let us know what the outcome is/was.

Cheerio
