Hilton HHonors - Confusion - When Does Status Actully Expire

With the change from rolling years to calendar year elite status, I am a little confused about when my Gold status will actually expire.

I cannot go back and look at last years stays on the Honors web site due the stay/night counter reset as of 1/1/2009.

When I log in (after the "magic" 5/1/2009 date mentioned in other posts) my status still shows as Gold VIP.

So my question is am I good for the rest of 2009 or will my Gold VIP status expire prior to 12/31/2009?

Isn't there an expiration date on your card?

That would require figuring out where the blasted card is at.

request a replacement card and you'll find out

or... Just call and ask when your status expires.

Yes, you can. Under "Hotel Stays Summary" click on "View All My Hotel Stays" and it'll show you your stays from the past 12 months.

"last 12 months" is the key. It is not possible to see stays prior to May 2008. So no way using the web site to determine number of stays last year.

I've sent an email off to hhonors@hilton.com

This might seem like a silly question .. but does anyone else keep a folder with all their previous year stays like I do? ;)

I have found that comparing the previous 12 months listing on Hilton.com wth the total number of stays shown on the summary page there are sometimes differences.
in the total.
That seems to be particularly true if its a mutual account.

Just curious. What is a "mutual account"

For MOST people (those that qualify normally without challenges) it's 3/31 of whatever year (unless you qualified or requalified in 2009, it's 3/31/10).

A "mutual account" is where husband and wife are allowed a joint HHonors account, thereby enabling status to be achieved and maintained quicker if both stay at Hilton properties and both can get the relevant benefits. They were stopped for new applications several years ago, but existing mutual accounts were allowed to continue.

And 3/31/2010 is the answer I received via email from Hilton Customer Care.

Many thanks to those who replied.

Same happened to me, and I have been Diamond for the last 4 years....
I called the customer care here in Italy and I was told that the sistem should give you the best status between the old and the new system for 2009, but obviusly it is not happening...

Maybe you were on the old system somehow where status went through 4/30 - consider yourself lucky.

I am pretty p'od. I got an email saying if I had so many stays by April 30, 09, they would extend Diamond through April 30, 2011. (This was basically 28 stays under the old system, not a challenge, but a grandfather.)

They only extended though March 30, 2011. I sent them my original email with the April 30 date ("if you have x stays by April 30, 09, you will be Diamond through April 30, 2011"), and all I got was a "sorry", March 30 is the date, and a token 2000 points.

I am going to escalate this within HHonors, as I have a vacation planned for April '11, and the email was very explicit on this point.

Would welcome any advice.

Ok let clear this up:)

Before HH made the descision to go back to the calender qualification those that still qualified by the Rolling tier got expirations dates of various months depending on when they qualified (basically about 16 months of status).
I actually have a card expiring 06/2009. All others who qualified after mid 2008 until the end of 2008 got status until 03/31/2010 .. so when I requalified again in that period we got three sets ( of one each for my wife and one for me) of new cards :) all expiring in 03/31/2010.

At the changeover its obvious that HH changed the end on their status year to 03/31 ... so all who received cards whether 2010 or 2011 their status will end in 03/31 of the specfiied year. If anyone has been told by a HH CSR it would expire on April 30 that is quite obviously an error and was based on the former status year end.

Somewhat along these lines, I went to bed as a Gold and woke up a Silver on May 1 @ the ORD HGI. Should I have gotten the 25% bonus?
