I have booked our second trip in BA CW,to Hong Kong in October.Since the last trip there is now a link to click on their web site if you're disabled(my wife had a knee replacement June 08 and up to now she's at best no better, sees surgeon in 2 weeks) When I click I answer each question till I get to "can she climb stairs? I said yes to this as given time and no-one pushing to get past she could. I then get a wheelchair assigned, fair enough.
The problem is that without status in BAEC we cannot preselect seats till t-24 hrs and by then there may only be centre pairs left and no way could she stride over a sleeping pax safely.
I tried clicking "no she cannot climb stairs and was instructed to ring CS. So my question is.....has anyone been in this situation and made the call, and what was the outcome?
Last time we were in this situation before the knee op a BA insider "helped out" presumably by getting the correct SSR code on our booking. I intend phoning after she's seen the surgeon but wondered what I can expect?
Cheers.

Travellers with a disability are allowed to select their seat at the time of booking, but you will need to call in.

Not as simple as that I'm afraid. If you can manage steps, should the aircraft be at a remote stand, you cannot preselect because the SSR code you'd get wouldn't qualify you.

Well I made the call and got the most helpful CS agent ever.High lifter will be available if we're using a remote stand, what's more he asked if a particular seat would be better for her.
Well done BA
