Hi Folks,

Here's a link (http://boardingarea.com/blogs/onemileatatime/2008/08/28/trip-report-intercontinental-frankfurt-and-a-fun-evening/) to a post I made about my stay at the InterContinental Frankfurt. Overall it was a pretty mediocre stay. The room upgrade wasn't all that great, and the hotel was pretty tired looking, but it was still a decent value as a Royal Ambassador. In retrospect I realize I should have asked for club access, which they seem to give on demand.

Hi Folks,

Indeed, the word is mediocre. Just checked-out of this hotel. Yes we had a room in the 20th floor overlooking the river and the city, but the property is in need of some serious renovations. Tired rooms, tired public areas, which really are hard to overlook despite the good service and nice location. The buffet breakfast is indeed great, and the service in general is good, but now that we've moved to a nearby hotel, Movenpick for an early departure, I would actually say that the latter's newer, modern rooms, with much more genuine service and free wireless, might easily push me to pass on the Intercontinental next time.

Great review though Lucky as always, thanks!

The InterConti is extraordinary good value for money. I pay something in the range of 140 Euro for a superior room, which always gives me an upgrade to a full suite.

Just a few things to remember:

- the standard RA upgrade is two category
- suites have two minibars :D
- lounge is included for RAs, just go up there

This IC FRA absolutely nice and no complaint for EUR44/night with double upgrade to corner suite.

I have such inconsistent experiences here but the one consistency is I am never told I can have Club access even if I am not upgraded to a Club level room as an RA with a basic standard res. Stayed there last night (needed to get away to some reclusion after the intensive MegaDo!) and did get a larger room but no mention of Club access until I asked and it was granted (though they never asked for my room number at the Club). There is free wifi in the Club -- the receptionist will give you a code -- but the signal does not reach below into many rooms. There is wired internet, but apparently the free access for Ambassadors ended at the end of October. However, having been given the code to use in the lounge, I then figured it must also work on the wired connection as it was the same portal, and it did...so I had free internet in my room as well. Agree its showing its age, but the location to the RR station is easy for walking, and the rates outside trade show periods makes it a bargain (if you have RA benefits ;) .)

recently stayed for four days; upgraded to Club Suite; loved the room, the lounge, the service, the location- don't get 'mediocre' and 'tired' comments at all.

Does anyone know if the Panoramic Suites have been refurbed as part of the recent work?

I need 5 nights in FRA and we'll be taking the baby so we need a suite so we can put her to bed and still watch TV etc. I know I swore I would never go back to this hotel, but Euro 303 (not RA now!) for the suite is a good deal if they have been redone.

And if they've not been redone, there appears to be a brand new ApartHotel just opened relatively close (Adina Apartment Hotel) ...

That Adina Hotel is wonderfull and not so dated like the IC!! I stayed there in November, while they had their 50th opening promo going on. Its right down the street, closed to the opera.

I stay there every week and I do not consider these suites to be dated. They are not modern stylish in a "W" sense of style, but pretty much ok as a classic city apartment. However, I only pay between 98 and 139 Euro for a superior room and enjoy the upgrade, so the expectations might be lower.

I also often enjoy those suites when staying here, but actually I donīt think I would be spending 300 EUR for it. Itīs absolutely worth up to 200 EUR but beyond that itīs not worth the price.

.... and as I've lost RA, €303 would be my price! Looks like Adria is the way to go, the photos are fantastic and there is a pool for the little one.

Raffles refers to the second option, the Adina hotel, which actually is equiped with an indoor pool. Thatīs for sure is a point when travelling with a baby.

I stayed at the IC Frankfurt again a couple of weeks ago, and had a great stay. This time around I even got upgraded to the club level without asking. I wrote a trip report with pictures, which can be found here (http://boardingarea.com/blogs/onemileatatime/2010/07/17/around-the-world-in-a-week-part-fourteen-the-intercontinental-frankfurt/), for anyone interested.

Any new updates on the IC Frankfurt since 2010? I am going to be staying there in July for a few days on leisure.

I stayed at the Intercontinental Frankfurt last week and I returned from the Hyatt in Mainz to stay another night at the Interconti Frankfurt. Got a cool upgrade.

I made some pictures which can be found on my blog:

I stayed here last night - here are my impressions:

Pro:

- probably one of the best beds I have ever slept on, mattress not too hard, not too soft - high quality bedding

- internet is free in the lobby and really fast

- location is great - just one block from main river bank and 5 minutes walk to train station and downtown area

- friendly but not extremely friendly staff

Con:

- Boy this place looks old and tired especially from the outside, carpets are very well used

- I was upgraded to a 'superior room' with Main view which was really small - think Japanese small

- gym has only 2(!) treadmills and one elliptical, weight lifting equipment must be 30 years old

- bathrooms are tiny - if you are of a bigger format you'll have trouble turning in that bathroom

Overal for a EUR 200 rate a pretty mediocre stay - great for sleeping at least :)
