Hi Folks,

This past summer I used points to stay at the InterContinental Paris, and, as usual, had a fantastic stay. Check out the trip report here (http://boardingarea.com/blogs/onemileatatime/2008/06/25/openskies-to-paris-part-two/).

I'm a regular at this hotel, and indeed am here right now. A perfect stay as usual. I'm not sure what else to write, since there are countless posts on this hotel elsewhere on Flyertalk.

Lunch with sweets 12:00-14:30
Tea time 15:00-17:30

Champagne, wine, snacks 20:00-22:00

Haven't posted for quite some time here, but thought that the service was exceptional enough at the Le Grand to shake off the dust... I will assume (didn't search for any posts on club access) that it's well known that RA's no longer have complimentary access to the club. Nonetheless, minibar, upgrade, etc. were in line with RA benefits regardless of reward stay. ^

No, it's not well assumed at all. At least not by this RA. I don't know about award stays, but I still get upgraded to Club still on paid stays. Maybe this is a difference between gifted RA's and real RA's? Or RA's who have been RA's for more than 5 years? Or some other criteria? Anyhow, I love this hotel and not just because of the Club upgrade. But that certainly helps. ;)

To be fair FL350 started their post with the title "Rewards Stay - IC Paris LeGrand" - so based on the experience of reward visitors to the IC Grand he/she is correct.

Well it's been a few months since my last reward stay there, but I did get club access then too. We'll see on the next try.

A gentle reminder, that the focus of this subforum is more on the stay reports, than on discussions. Discussions about the hotel should be posted over in the main forum in this thread (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/intercontinental-hotels-priority-club-inter-continental-ambassador/896351-ic-le-grand-paris-master-thread-merged.html).

Thank you

I'm at the Big Hotel again now. I don't usually post stay reports often since it's usually always the same. I've been coming here for about 10 years or so now and it's always the same pretty much. Upgrade to Club, nice mini-bar. Not much to report.

Stayed at the IC Paris Le Grand last week for the first time.

Used the new AMB BOGO cert and got a 399 EUR rate...

Received upgrade to Superior Opera View Room.

Had quite a few issues to get the AMB welcome amenities (at all! took several calls!).

Room was a bit smelly (as was the lobby...)

Breakfast in Cafe de la Paix is 38 EUR per person (incl. tax/svs chg) - clearly not worth it.

I made some pictures of the room. You can find them at my Flickr site (http://www.flickr.com/photos/42504712@N06/sets/72157624093268717/).

Don't think I will return.

Ambassador on an award stay. I have stayed here before, so was prepared for the small rooms, lack of benefits and generally bad service.

Sure enough, no upgrade. Was told I was in a "superior" room on the Scribe Wing but the 'rack rate' tariff on the door of the room said "classic". There was, however, a surprisingly large bathroom with a disabled lavatory but a tiny shower that was difficult enough to operate for the able bodied. (I was also perplexed at how a wheelchair user would be expected to navigate a room where the space around the bed was smaller than a wheelchair, and how fire evacuation would take place from the third floor without an elevator?)

Room smelt of gravy and was preposterously small, although the double bed (two singles pushed together) was more comfortable than it looked. Tiny television in the corner of the room, light bulbs missing from both bedside lamps.

No Ambassador welcome amenity, and the room was incorrectly set up for one person, so not enough towels. Called housekeeping and got no response after one hour, so I went into the corridor and took two clean towels from a housekeeping trolley.

Returned to the room later in the evening to find a packet containing six of melting chocolate biscuits and one bottle of Evian. That would be the Ambassador 'welcome' then!

Request for 2pm check out was met with much sucking of teeth but eventually granted.

Was told it was no longer possible to borrow the power adaptor from the minibar, and that everybody was now charged 12 Euros...but that I was welcome to take the adaptor home with me after I had paid (gee, thanks!)

On check out, the staff member kept saying "bonjour, oui" without looking up from her computer. She did this three times until it dawned on her that I would not begin a conversation without a basic minimum of eye contact, and she looked up. After confirming there was a zero folio, she walked off.

To reiterate, the only value of this hotel is the great location (and, if you are RA I suppose you also get the club lounge and a room bigger than a dog kennel). In every other respect it is just a Holiday Inn with deep pile carpets and a grand piano.

Good stay December 22-24. The hotel seemed empty. A welcome change from prior stays. Was assigned a great room as an Ambassador. Welcome gift was added everyday. Club access was astounding 90/euro a day. I indulged. Great business center, in the Club, in a quiet area upstairs. Good food/drink in Club. Given free internet access on BOGO, plus 1 Sweet Dilemma Free Day.

Any chance of a bit more info please? What did you book, and what did you get assigned? Cheers ^
