Las Vegas - Has worry about swine flu affected the numbers in Las Vegas?View Full Version : Has worry about swine flu affected the numbers in Las Vegas? lrickets May 1, 09, 12:07 pm don't know if this flu is affecting vegas at all but for those who've been to vegas in the past 4 weeks or so, did you notice any less or more people? mitchell May 3, 09, 1:39 am The number of people in the high roller rooms has been way up the past month. Didn't notice any downturn in the past week. All April it was pretty busy (of course this is relative to Mar 2009, not 2007). thebat May 3, 09, 3:58 pm The number of people in the high roller rooms has been way up the past month. If not, where are you getting these numbers? mitchell May 4, 09, 12:12 am thebat: I've been gambling in Vegas for the past month, and I'm in the high roller rooms at Bellagio, Caesar's Palace, Mirage, MGM, etc... The difference is like night & day between Mar 2009 & Apr 2009. 2-3X as many tables are open in the high roller area in Bellagio. The waitstaff at Bellagio & Caesar's Palace (many of whom I am friends with) are super-busy. I'd estimate Apr 2009 was 4-10X as busy in the high-roller area at Bellagio, but I don't have actual drop numbers. lrickets May 4, 09, 10:03 am mitchell, was it towards the end of april? because i think the crowds were there for the pacquiao vs hatton's fight the past saturday. they both have tons of support from people of their countries. that may be the difference you're talking about. i'm not freaked out about the flu. it did not come at a better time because it's about the time when people starting vacations, graduations, etc. i'm just curious since vegas is a place a lot of foreigner visits. mitchell May 7, 09, 12:46 am Nope. All of April has been good. blondee_yvr May 7, 09, 10:40 pm I dont know if it has affected the numbers but maybe it's affected the number of people eating at the buffets though. One casio/hotel even has a great offer on their eat and stay rates. |
