Looking for a Caribbean destination for June...that is popular and has lots of nightlife. Age group is 25 - 30. They were originally planning on going to Cabo, but the they are worried no one will be there due to the swine flu scare. Looking for an all-inclusive. DR (the king of all inclusives) is an option...but there is nothing else to do except for the resort.

I suggested SXM, but the crowd might be older. Any other ideas?

Here are my 4 suggestions really quickly (flight about to board, I am off to Anguilla this weekend)

St. Maarteen - There are lots of young locals, expats and visitors, lots of night life and dining options. Easy to get around. They will love it especially if they love a good party.

Jamaica - Montego Bay (loads of fun and all inclusives)

Barbados - Worth checking out

St. Lucia - in June should be very festive as the island is leaving the high of the Jazz festival and preparing for Carnival and all the parties associated with Carnival.

Since I have a minute more to spare here's one bonus destination that sometimes gets overlooked when one thinks about the Caribbean - Puerto Rico "My 2nd favourite party spot in the islands after SXM".

Hope this helps. Should you need additional information do post it here or run a search for any of these destinations.

Hope you a had a great time in Anguilla!

They are leaning towards SXM now. The airfare is low (compared to other destinations) and the hotels are pretty cheap. I know June is offseason for the islands, but will SXM (especially Maho Beach) be dead? There is a cruise ship in port for one of the days...

I did suggest PR..there are some good all-ins there as well, but most of the guys have been there.

Have they thought about a cruise? The food is included and you can eat and eat and eat, there is tons of nightlife, built in companions, you get to see a few different islands. A cruise allows you to see where you would go back and spend more time at. The alcohol isn't much more expensive that at a resort.

there are some really cheap cruises at the moment. Check out www.vacationstogo.com , www.cruisecritic.com, and www.cruisecompete.com also make sure and check the prices directly with the cruise lines. if you find a Carnival cruise you're interested in drop me a line and I'll send my contacts name for them.

Thanks, AXA was great as usual, we had a long holiday weekend in Antigua so I hope across to kick back and relax. Unfortunately AXA does not fit the bill for your buddies so I won't recommend it at this time.

I quite like the suggestion from MoreMilesPlease, now why didn't I think of that :D

They might just be able to get one of those cruises out of Barbados which sails to SLU, ANU, SKB, SXM and back to BGI. Very economical and loads of fun.

SXM should still be happening in June and Maho Beach is in an ideal location:

Right on the beach
Across the street from Q Club (nightclub) and Cherrie's Cafe (great outdoor hangout)
A short walk away from Platinum Room (Adult Entertainment)
A short walk from Bamboo Bernie's and Bliss (lovely clubs)
Close to casinos (Maho has an in house casino)

Just typing this makes me want to head over there tomorrow.

Your buddies will love it, trust me. Are you heading down as well?

I'll check out the cruise info...the problem with cruises are the fixed dates. some of the group may fly in earlier, leave later, etc.

I believe the Q - Club was shutdown and renovated...renamed to Tantra.

I had an old friend (who I lost touch with now), but he went to med school on the island and said Bliss was amazing...not sure how he passed his classes with all of that partying so close.

All of this research is getting me excited...I think I may skip out on a few days and head down too :)

I decided to go after all!

Looking at some hotel/condo properties. Rates are super low. Is Simpson Bay to Maho walkable? Looks like the airport gets in the way...hmm.

Might just stay at the Sonesta Maho...

Great stuff, you will love it. Be sure to post a trip report when you guys return.

Anyway to answer your question, it is too far to walk from Simpson Bay to Maho on a regular basis and it is something I would not recommend. Depending on where you are in Simpson Bay we could be looking at a 25 - 30 min walk.

Stay at Sonesta Maho, you will be better for it.

Thanks for the advice, but I think we're going to stay at the Royal Palm in Simpson Bay. The value is pretty amazing...2 bedrooms for around $150/night. The Sonesta will be much more.

Sounds too good to pass up. At that price per night you guys could afford to rent multiple cars and have a wild time.

Never stayed at Royal Palm but the exterior seems inviting. Share you opinion of the property on your return.

Do enjoy
