Hi folks,

I just found the information that Hilton Sao Paulo will start going to charge for alcoholic beverages consumed in their Executive Lounge very soon (as of May 1st?). This rumor has been confirmed by a staff member of their Executive Lounge, adding that he wasn't sure if the Hilton Sao Paulo is the onliest hotel doing this or if it will established hiltonwide. Even if my source is not very reliable, I'm more than willing to believe that this is Hiltons next step going down the hill. Any more reliable infos about this?

Well, I believe whether or not alcoholic beverages are free in the Executive Lounge always depends on the individual hotel and/or the region they are in.
For example in the US, many Hiltons already charge for alcoholic beverages in their lounges.

I would say that the Hilton Sao Paulo is one of the best Hiltons around (apart from the restauarant Canvas which is terrible)- I can give many examples of hiltons "going downhill" but not this one..

We were always charged in the US as long I can remember (and this is certainly more than 15 years)

I've always had to pay for drinks in Ex lounges in the US, although I've read there may still be a few holdouts in the US, but not in the big markets. Hope the Madrid, Sp Hilton is still free!

Yes, definitely charged in the Montreal Bonaventure Hilton earlier this year.

And they charge a lot (plus taxes) for very average wines.

I heard all drinks are free with the (again rumored) higher-than-diamond elite status

It's always been that way. Most were on the honor system, so my boss would fill a water glass and write down one drink!!!
