Hilton HHonors - Hilton Gold Through Hilton Amex Question

Just a quick question - so I'm only a few thousand dollars away from hitting the $20K mark to reach gold on my hilton amex card, and I was wondering a few things:

If I reach 20K earlier and receive Gold, does my Gold expire earlier, or is it good through the end of next year. My only reason to reach gold is 1) I'll be staying at Hilton for business in November and would like to be upgrade and get more points and 2) I'd like to use 175K Hilton points for a 6 night stay somewhere next year while being Gold, but I want to be sure Gold doesn't just expire one year after you receive , since I'd get gold before Aug 2009 and we want to travel Aug 2010.

I just got my gold card, which expires 3/10. Your spend this year is earning you status for 2010, and they will also give it to you for the rest of 2009 shortly after you hit the $20K mark. It should expire 3/11 unless you re-qualify.

Travelbabe is right. Whatever you spend this year will qualify you for next year. For example, if you hit the $20,000 in May 2009, you should have Gold status for the entire 2009 and the first 3 months of 2010.

I believe TRAVELBABES's statement is accurate that if you spend $20K sometime in 2009 you would then have Gold status through February of 2011, not 2010. You would have it for one full year and two months AFTER the year in which you spend $20K. Plus you would have it for the remainder of the year in which you pass the $20k spending. If Gold status does not show up within a couple of weeks after the HHonors AMEX statement that shows you have passed the $20K spending level, I would begin calling HHonors customer service and bugging them to upgrade your status immediately. So you should have status from whenever you qualify in 2009 through February of 2011.

Ok lets clear up all the misinformation here;)

Whenever you achieve status with HH (whether by Amex or by stays) your status will expire the END OF MARCH two years after the qualifying year.

Spend 20k anytime between 01/01/09 and 12/25/09 will give status until 03/31/2011
