I am scheduled to fly the BKK-ICN night flight on the 747 in late June in Prestige class. When I called to reserve my seat, the phone agent told me that they do not seat anyone in the upper deck for this flight. Is this really the case?

It sure seems like a lot of wasted revenue to keep flying a plane so large if they have trouble filling business class.

Y (tourist) demand is extremely strong in BKK route, so KE wants to put largest plane as much as possible - 773 or 747. For a long time, upper deck C class was filled up with Y passengers. Same story for Asiana airline, too.

Even though the agent told you no one seats there, I think some lucky Y passengers will be able to get there.

As I mentioned in another thread, just last week I ticked on over to Morning Calm status and was seated upstairs on the BKK-ICN flight on my economy ticket. The front 4 rows each had one person per pair of seats. The remaining rows looked full of younger women; I assumed that they were KE staff.

it depends on the configuration. most of the time when upper deck is to be assigned to y/class only high milers are going to seat there, possibly starting from 200,000/300,000 miles or volountary downgradings when prestige pax complain. ke staff never are never assigned those seats or prestige unless they are captain or co-pilot wives.
