A few weeks ago I booked a room at bestwestern.com at $112/night for next Monday (April 27). Yesterday, I found the same room for $101 at bookit.com. When I checked the terms and conditions it seems that the BW low rate guerantee only applies for 48h after the reservation is made. That makes no sense, as I can just cancel my original reservation and re-book at bestwestern.com at a much higher rate ($146) and then make a claim. Right? Or should I cancel and make a reservation at bookit.com?
I am not familiar with these procedures and potential pitfalls, so please advise ...

I just had my rate adjusted because of the Low Rate Guarantee (http://www.bestwestern.com/lowrates/index.asp). I had originally booked my hotel at Bestwestern.com. Then I decided to search around just to see what I could find. At booking.com I found the same hotel (and same room type) for EURO 30 cheaper. So, I booked it (since I could still cancel it if I needed to). I then filled out the form at the link above. After a few emails back and forth with Best Western (they couldn't find my hotel at booking.com, my rate didn't qualify, etc), they adjusted my rate - they gave me the lower rate plus took 10% off of that. I subsequently cancelled my booking.com reservation and look forward to saving a few bucks!

I would make sure they wont charge you for a cancelation rate and if not then I would cancel and prob book it through the other company.
