I have a booking EZE-JNB-EZE for which I couldn't make a seat request at the time of bookings (says seating restricted, even though my booking class is not amongst the restricted ones). Anyway I decided to call the call centre to request the seats.
First try the Argentina number - no answer (even though during office hours) - tried over a few hours
Next the Johannesburg number - after 15 minutes on hold I gave up
Next tried the London number - it was picked up almost immediately and a very helpful lady helped me out - and managed to get the seats even though the system appeared to be refusing.
A bit disappointing with the other offices - I don't know how they expect to make any (non-internet) sales if you can't even reach them on the telephone!
