I'll probably get a lot of link postage here in this thread, but I just requalified for Gold status through 2010 (I had 4 stays in Q1, which must have been some sort of promotion that I didn't know about but benefited from anyway) and got my card in the mail. In addition, the packet said that I could get bumped to Diamond status for 7 stays or 15 nights between May 1-July 30.
This seems like it's a pretty good deal, especially considering that I have 5 stays already booked during that time frame. Is it worth the mattress runs on the other 2 stays? I know that Diamond gets a larger point bonus (50% v. 25%) and the Diamond force on stays in hotels that are full (which doesn't seem to be an issue anymore). Is there anything else that really differentiates it from Gold? The Hilton website made it seem like that was where it mattered. Any thoughts?

I would say yes, particularly as you likely can use reward stays to meet the promotion. AS I recall, there are some very low point value Hamptons in UT -- or for pay, as well!
Diamond is worth it especially if considering going overseas, or a place where lounge access will save you a good deal of money.
Now, you can PM me with that link! ;)

I would love that link too, my diammond is expiring this year and no new promos for me yet!

It seems they are making the promotion to many who did not maintain Diamond with the new cards being received in the last week or so. Even people dropped down to regular membership got the offer
I don't have the letter here, if I didn't toss it I'll post the link when I get home.

Mine states for the named recipient only and requires 7 stays or 15 nights between July 1st and Sept.30th. No link.

I got the offer, but it was vague. No specific T&C. No sign up? Is it automatic? I don't want to spend the next 3 months chasing after diamond and not get the promotion upgrade.

Hi Mike,
Any luck on locating this diamond requal letter ?

I actually looked last night and didn't have it anymore. Then I remembered I don't think there was a link for it, I think when I went into my promotions or whatever it was it said that I was already registered for it. I went back and looked at some of the other scans people have linked here, and there was no link in them, so I'm assuming they just registered the people they targeted it to already
I would just call and ask if you can be part of it too, all they can say is no. Sort of call to ask if you have registered for it, since you don't see any place to do so.
actually has a scan of the mailing, and noplace in it was there a link, so don't think there was an actual sign up.

I got the same offer, and it is targetted with automated sign-up.

In general, two stays...call it $150 total...is probably worth it if you have at least one leisure stay of more than a couple days at a nice Hilton at some point in the period in which you'd be Diamond. (I'm talking about the resort or other high-end stays where you really want them to take very nice care of you.) If your '09-'10 activity is mainly business travel, it probably doesn't really matter a whole lot.
Hilton treats Golds reasonably well, but from reading here Diamonds tend to get significantly higher probability of suites.
Question: does the Diamond Force really work? I mean, as long as we aren't talking about the Super Bowl or Olympics, does it really work? I am a Marriott Platinum and their version does not work well at all. I am 0 for 4 attempting to invoke it, always weeks in advance, and never for a major global event for which you could sort of (and I stress sort of) understand a property reneging on the benefit. (Marriott's guarantee is simply that they'll allow you to pay rack rate. They wouldn't even let me do that.)

Yes, the diamond force works, but it's usually at rack rate, which is way too expensive usually.

I just qualified for Gold under this promo yesterday. Does anyone know whether the Gold (and the future Diamond offer) status lasts through 3/2010 or 3/2011?

My promo said that the fast track status would only be good to the status on the enclosed card (for me it was 2010) and that to maintain it past that standard requalification would apply.
To me that means if I do the seven stays between tomorrow and end of July I'll have it till 2010, if I want it till 2011 I will need to get a total of 28 stays for the calendar year (for Diamond)

Where exactly did you look to see that you were already registered for it?

I've only used it once, but I had a great experience.
This October, U2 is playing Atlanta's 60,000-seat Georgia Dome, and I'm taking my awesome wife.
There's a HGI a half-mile from the arena, but it's sold out, as are other HH properties that night.
I called the Diamond number after midnight a few weeks back and asked if I "could force a night with points" at the HGI. The rep let me choose a room with an Evolution bed or city view with Comfort bed, using the HGI's standard redemption rates and a credit-card number to secure charges.
I don't feel as though I got a closet room or shoddy treatment, but I do think there's a risk of getting walked if I wait until after the concert to check in. The rep was very quick and knowledgeable. I have heard of low "Standard Room" inventory or hotels playing loose with categories/descriptions, but I was very pleased with my experience.
Except that the future wife wants to stay @ Hotel Indigo.

I know this is the HHonor forum, but the Hotel Indigo in ATL is great!! Its easily accessible from the Georgia Dome by taking a short ride on the MARTA.

So who are you going with, the "awesome wife", or the "future wife", or both?

Heh. Either I believe in rotating models to preserve freshness, or...
We're getting married in June, so the concert will be our first big date as spouses.
I thought the star-eyed sappiness in my post would give away that we're not married yet.
As far as Indigo vs HGI, both seem like great options, and I have no complaints with either. I had booked both, but Indigo had availability and I was much more impressed with my first-time-ever Diamond Force skills.
Thanks also for the MARTA tip, MINTEERFLYER. I had thought the 1.5-mile Indigo-Georgia Dome distance too short for taxi or re-parking, but maybe not comfortable for a post-concert walk. That sounds just right.

I received an offer but I was sure it was 5 stays or 15 nights between May 1 and July 31 to move from Gold to Diamond, and I've already requaled Gold for 2010.
I'm completely happy with HH Gold and prefer it over my Marriott Plat, but I'll be HH Diamond by the end of May.
