I was given a contract ID and coupon code for Alamo.
I have booked the car for Vegas but am looking to see if anyone (including Alamo employees) can tell me the origin of the contract ID. The coupon code is for a free upgrade!
I am a little hesitant in using the ID even though I plan on using the kiosk.
Contract I.D. 7012298 and coupon code AU2729MJW
It is a hellava deal though.
thanks, Armeee

When is your res? I am off til Monday and can check it for you then. I'd call the counter for you and have someone check it for you but they are busy today and I'd get interupted about a dozen times before I'd finish the phone call. LOL
If you can wait til Mon nite for a reply...I'd be happy to make sure you are SAFE using it.

Hello there,
I used this to make a reservation in Florida in July and also got a good rate.
I called Alamo to inquire what contract ID #7012298 and apparently it is for Maui Viajes. "Maui Travels" in Spanish?
She said no other info on it was available and that no ID or cards were required when you picked up the car.
Hope this helps.

Thank you for the update.
I was PM'd from another poster confirming the same.......
Please let me know what type of vehicle you are renting and if the upgrade was honoured.
There is still a question of moving up from "midsize" to "fullsize". (During the online booking it gave me a "standard" size from a "midsize".

for a Dec. rental in LIH... worked out very well and the upgrade posted immediately (went from compact to midsize -- ok since we know the mgr there). I know at this location the "usually " don't ask for the actual coupon... but "just in case" does any one have one. I know I can get a Costco one but don't know if it will work... their rate comes out to be about $150 more.

Now that we know who the code belongs to. What verification, if any does Alamo require upon check-in?

saw your post to another thread where you asked about the charge for additional driver. When I keyed in this code for our December LIH dates it came up with additional driver at not extra cost.
Good luck with your upgrade.

This id/coupon is returning some excellent rates for a one way rental for 9 days (LAS to SFO). Can any Alamo friends or others who have used this in the past confirm if this works? Just want to make sure I am not without another car....! Thanks in advance.
P.S: I will be making another reservation thru Costco just to be on the safer side.

I'm not finding Costco is having much better rates than the standard rates (using Enterprise which has always been the least expensive, in my experience).

I am cancelling my res with the "Maui" code and going with a new Costco/Alamo deal. Ends up $20 cheaper in the long run. See below.
Alamo Rent A Car: Save Up to 25 Percent*
Plus One Free Day
on a 5-Day Rental
Also... free additional driver and a larger car. $201.00 US all in.
I have CDW with my own insurance and with Mastercard so it is not needed.
Has anyone had any success with the "Maui" code.... please post.

Maui Viajes is a travel agency in Venezeula. This contract ID is specifically for their employees. Generally the reps in the call center have no idea what they are talking about when it comes to contract ID's or coupon codes.
Will you have success with this code? Perhaps, Alamo are getting a little more strict on code enforcement and also have been modifying some of these contract ID's if they get out of hand. Most people have no issues but I have been hearing more and more people having problems. Generally the longer a code is out there and the more people who call in about it, the likelihood of having an issue increases. You reservation may become invalid or you may be denied at the counter.
It is a good idea to have a backup with another company.

Thanks armeee for the code, I came across this post a couple of weeks back when planning a family vacation to Orlando. Anyway I had already booked a Minivan for the week at the cost of $370 + CDW prior to finding the post, when I went back and re-booked with the 'Maui' code itcame up as $249 INCL the collision insurance (no upgrade available from minivan though that wasn't a concern).
Anyway picked up the car this morning and was never questioned about the code, saved me $100's, thanks again!!!

Your welcome...... glad it is working for you.
I changed to Costco not only for the cheaper rate but I am hesitant to use a code that I may not be entitled to. Although the "Maui" code gave a great price and CDW, if I was in an accident would Alamo not cover me (CDW) cause I used a code that I had no business in using........ And that is what it comes down to.

What dates did u use for Costco? Costco gives me really lousy rates. Also, if you pay by a Gold Credit Card or if you transfer youre vehicle inusrance or have a rental vehicle option with your private insurance, that should, in theory I believe cover you in the event you're in an accident. I believe the same would apply if you used a code that didn't include CDW that you may not be entiteld to.

While planning my Hawaii trip, the other day I get this twitter tweet from Island Air about car rental discounts. Since I mostly use Alamo, I click on the Alamo link and it takes me to the Alamo site with ID /Corp ID already set for # 7014846. For some strange reason I am getting the best deals with that Corp ID. (Especially when combined with any coupon from costco). But for the life of me I cannot find any info on that Corp ID except that its from Hawaii Island Air. There is no mention of what type of discount it offers. Even though it seems like its over 25% off.
Does any one have any info on Corp ID 7014846?
or for that matter is there a list of Alamo Corporate ID #'s, product code and rate codes listed anywhere?
Thanks

Just wondering if there is any additional scoop on Alamo ID 7012298?
I used it and Alamo e-coupon code AU2729MJW (free upgrade on compact or midsize from Alamo Hot Deals) for a reservation 9/4/09-9/20/09 in Lihue, Kauai.
Screaming deal:
$342.98 total for a Midsize (Pontiac G6 or similiar)
includes additional driver, unlimited miles, Full CDW
It almost seems to good to be true, so I'm keeping a back-up reservation.
Has anyone actually rented with this? Problems? Could you use the Kiosk?
Thanks,

Most coupns are "e-coupns" so there is no issue there. There are some that require a paper coupn, which will pop up a flag for the rental agent to ask for it, otherwise if its an e coupon, no need to worry.

I agree, except for Entertainment Book coupons, I believe you need to present them at the counter. There is a $20 off coupon in there for Alamo and the book now goes for less than $15 including free shipping.

Not anymore. Those coupons are also available as "on line" coupons through Entertainment.com, so as long as your are using the online coupon code, Alamo will not require you to present a "hard" copy.

Good stuff. I used the paper coupon and I had the message that the coupon may need to be shown at check-in. I changed the coupon to the online coupon code and it did take, but there is still a message that coupon may need to be shown at check-in. I didnt use the recommend promo code by Entertainment but the above code posted earlier. Unfortunately, there is also no way to do an online check-in. I suppose you have to use a kiosk instead?

I have the same question when using the Costco codes. Alamo says I might have to present a coupon. The costco site says I just have to show them my membership card. I also think that I cannot use the web-checkin and have to use the Kiosk.
Its just a code, no coupon.... nothing printable

Just got a compact for $135 all in using 7012298 for LAS. Just wanted to check to see if the code has still been working.
The upgrade coupon would not work, probably because my return is after 6/30 (the expiration date) or they have stopped that extra little perk. Even without the coupon, I am looking at a great rate and I can use online check in. I will be able to bypass the kiosk/counter and go straight to my car....... makes me a bit more comfortable as I normally use National and Emerald Aisle.

After reserving using the code 7012298, I have found that Alamo now lists that code as "sold out at this location". Should I be worried using this code with my current reservation?

I think Alamo has pulled that code now. I got the same message today checking on a rental for a friend going to Kauai in September. There is a post on tripadvisor.com - Kauai forums - they just picked up their car a couple of days ago using a res. with that code, no problems. The lady at the counter did comment on what a good rate it was.
Have a backup reservation just in-case.

You can thank those annoying Disney travellers for getting that code pulled. They keep phoning Alamo, asking if the code is valid and it probably drew too much attention. The same thing happened with the National "magic 57" codes last year.
It's bad enough they plague airport security lines, but why must they ruin these good car rental codes too!

I just recently used this code to rent a car in Orlando. I had no trouble using the code. I could not use the kiosk. I asked why it did not work and was told by Alamo employee she did not know but the only thing she needed was my confirmation number. No problems. I also rented a car for Las Vegas next month.

This is very frightening....my back-up reservation is over $100 more!
In addition, when I go to my reservation, the ONLINE CHECK-IN Option no longer is available. I think they may be turning down people at Check-in. They have you by the gonads, so what are you going to do, except take the car at the higher price?

Here's the thing....... everyone must realize that most of us on this site are not entitled to it. Yes, it offers a great rate and CDW, but what happens if you actually got into an accident. Are you absolutley sure that Alamo will come good with the CDW. They could probably investigate and find that you were given a code that you had no reason using and say that they are not covering your accident.
It seems that this code is being used en mass. Alamo is now clueing into this and denying the res.
I am NOT using this code and suggest, with recent developments, that people find an alternative discount code.
For those of you that had success..... congrats!

That's a good point. I have insurance through my credit card so every time I rent a car my credit card gets charged like $20 for a pretty good insurance package. If I were to get in an accident, god forbid, I'm wondering if my credit card would cover it. Also, isn't it possible to waive the CDW and tell them that I'll use my own coverage?
(Last year, I used the old National "57" that is not longer available. I got a convertible for 9 days in Seattle, dropping off in San Francisco and it cost me about $350. I wonder if I'll ever find a code like that again.) :(

Hi everyone. I just returned from Las Vegas about an hour ago.
I had NO PROBLEM using 7012298. I couldn't get an upgrade coupon to work, so I just used the code itself. I was allowed to use online check-in since I did not have a coupon. I was able to walk out to the car, make my choice, and drive away.
Receipt today was the exact amount I was quoted.
No issues at all.
