I have a trip to Austin coming up, and I am trying to take advantage of the 1000 pt promo. To that end, has anyone had any recent stays at either of these properties? Any other suggestions?
thanks!

If you are referring to the Austin Hilton downtown, I'm staying there right now. And stayed there last week. And have racked up over 100 nights since they opened. One of my favorite hotels in the US. What do you want to know? Great gym, pool and hot tub. Decent executive lounge. Close to lots of great restaurants and outdoor recreation. I stayed at the Homewood Suites once and it was just ok.

I echo the comments on the Hilton Austin - you can easily walk to most of the 6th street and campus sites from the hotel, the gym is good and the pool is nice. Check out the bats under the river - an amazing thing

I stayed at the Homewood Suites last month for the first time - my company is based in Austin and I'm there all the time. I'm sitting at my desk there right now. The hotel is nothing special and usually is more expensive than the Hampton Inn across the parking lot. The area is mostly hotels and fast food, but it is convenient to major highways if you can manage to merge into the traffic.

The Hilton downtown is new and very nice, and convenient to a lot of good restaurants and of course 6th Street. The bats are cool too - saw them again last week while having dinner along the river.

Echo the comments of others, gym is very nice and golds/diamonds get free access, others pay, pool is nice enough and on 6th or 8th floor and outside but you can find shade. For golds, i got an upgrade to HH floor with view of I35 (not so great but decent room) no exec lounge or exec floor (told it was sold out dues to SXSW but Hilton was showing exec rooms online). There is a charge for internet in the rooms but free in the lobby. Breakfast cert for golds is good for cold items only and $10 to upgrade to hot. No thanks. Cold was fine but nothing special. You can self park for $16 a day or valet for maybe $22. Easy walking distance to 6th street or Capitol.
