Anyone have any ideas on how I can get a cheap flight to PLS. I'm flying from EWR in early November and so far, the cheapest flight I can get is for $430 or so. Is it too early to be buying? When is the best time? What is the best fare I can expect?

Traveling to PLS is never cheap at the best of times. The advice I always tend to receive is that it is best to book 1-2 months out, and unless you know that flights will be packed when you are traveling, this still sticks. November is still considered off season (until thanksgiving), so you could probably expect to see good deals (most likely on US Airways via CLT) in September / October, but $430 seems pretty reasonable to me, especially this far out.

I'm also now worried about the luggage charges. I'm travelling with my wife and 5 kids, so these are significant. I'm gold on AA (through work), so I might wait and see if their fares drop to near USAir levels.

Bruckner, I live in PLS and $430 seems like a pretty good airfare, even if it didn't include tax (probably a shade over $100), aside from when Spirit had a failed attempt at the TCI the BEST price from memory I have ever gotten would be $390.

Unfortunately you can fly further (PR) for less, however it's obviously all due to demand/competition etc., the TCI are definitely worth the visit.
