The price difference between the two is about $180. I've read through the reviews on DPReview and am still struggling in deciding what to get to replace my sadly departed *istDS.

The K20D has a bunch more features and an additional 4MP of resolution. But it is also heavier, the battery grip is more expensive, it uses the proprietary battery and it is more expensive. Anyone actually seen the two side-by-side or used either one and have an opinion?

Thanks!

Go with the 20d, the better model is always preferred in the end unless you plan on trading up when another latest and greatest comes out. As a Canon fan though, I recommend at least the 40D :).

I ended up with the 20D. I held both of them in the store and played a little. Ultimately the ~$180 difference in price was close enough that I figured the better/newer technology and more advanced features were worth the investment.

Seems like Pentax is coming out with a new body shortly. The rumours as to the spec are conflicting, but the announcement date seems to be May 21. See some rumours that are milling around here (http://www.photographybay.com/2009/04/23/pentax-k7d/#more-5297).

Cheers,
T.

Uh-oh. Pentax announced the K-7 today, which I think is a replacement of the K20D.

No worries...I'll be fine. I like the new camera and it has the features I need. I might have price protection on my CC; I'll have to check. But either way I'm happy with the purchase.
