I have a rental tomorrow morning with Alamo at Phoenix airport. I reserved a Premium car (cheapest car for some reason, even chaepear then the economy). I was wondering what type of Premium cars that keep there and do I get to select the car? Never rented from Alamo before or from this Airport.

Very short notice hopefully will get a response before tomorrow. I just came across this board and it's my new favorite travel forum!

Thanks!

Also is there only particular models that include satellite radio for free? Sorry to ask so many questions, I usually rent with Budget and have always gotten XM for free....just wondering about Alamo.

Thanks again for any help!

Nicemann, welcome to FlyerTalk!

Several Alamo cars would have XM radio, but Alamo only uses the free trial period. On GM cars and Hyundais, it's about 3 months. Fords get Sirius from the factory for a year. If you find a really new car there it should still have the sat radio active.

I know what National at PHX carries so I would think Alamo's selection is more or less the same. I *think* Alamo renters can choose their own car but I'm not completely certain. We have a rep on this board who works at PHX; hopefully she'll catch this thread sometime between now and when you leave!

Happy travels!

Greatly appreciate the response. Kinda stinks that Alamo doesn't pay for the sat radio. Guess I will have to try for a 09 Ford. Was really wanting to get the Chryster 300. Driving from PHX to Vegas so sat radio comes in really handy.

I wonder since I reserved a premium vechicle if I could talk them into giving me a Mustang for the same price. Only a few hours left guess I will find out when I get there.

In the Premium section look for one of the new Tauruses. Haven't driven one myself but I've heard good things. The 300 is okay, but getting one with sat radio could be hit or miss. The Buick Lucerne is the standard-bearer of the Premium class, and a 3 month old one should have XM on it.
