Other Middle East and Africa Frequent Flyer Programs - Check Flight Availibility Etihad

I have a booking with Etihad, I want to change it but they say that there are no seats on "my class of service" I can change class but it will incur extra charges (I think different fares)

Is there any way I can check this myself instead of ringing up the airline every day?

It is a J ticket that has free changes.

It's availible in the same class, but I have to pay the difference in fare, free changes my arse.

In fact, does anyone know if you can cancel the first sector of your booking and fly on another airline?
