Mixed feelings. Looking forward to the bigger space, and I have friends who will be very relieved not to have to climb those stairs. Yet, I have a lot of great memories of the old place, and would have liked a chance to visit once more and say farewell.

I agree, hate the stairs, have great memories.I've always liked the owner John which I can't say for some others.
I just hope it doesn't look to new and the stoop gets moved over there.

I hope the new floor sags when you dance on it the way the old one did. I plan to test it out on Thursday, April 23, to Terrance Simien! Speaking of which, check out the amazing voice of Terrance's daughter, Marcella, who joined him on stage to sing Johnny Too Bad at the Blue Moon in Lafayette on the occasion of her 18th birthday!

Blumie, please don't post anymore links to videos like that. You're making me feel really old. ;)

I remember when Terrance first started playing as a young man, no wife, no kids. Your post made me start reminiscing about all of the Cajun & Zydeco musicians and dance halls I've seen & been in over the years. If you want sagging dance floors, you should try Slim's Y KI-KI, La Poussiere, et.al..

One of my favorites was Clento's Fais Do Do & Upholstery Shop, but sadly, I don't think that it is still in business - the bar, don't know about the upholstery shop. I haven't been up that way in awhile, so if it is still around, it's a place you have to ask the locals about, if you want to find your way there. Literally, in the middle of the rice fields.

Sorry for going off topic. Blame Blumie. :D

Anyway, I hope that y'all pass a good time at the Rock 'n Bowl and the Fest.

(I know, stupid question given her father's voice!) I hope she shows up with dad either at the bowling alley or at the Fais Do Do stage on Friday (she was with him at the Fest last year, but did not peform with him).
