I asked the Budget agent at Kona, HI (KOA) to add my UA Mileage Plus number to the reservation. She advised me that "they no longer participate with United".
Upon arriving home, I checked and determined that KOA was a corporate location. I emailed Budget and got the following response:
"Thank you for contacting Budget. We apologize for the misinformation you received about the Kona Airport not participating with United Airlines. They do participate with United and we have applied your United membership number to the contract. Please note that the airlines require we allow up to 90 days for processing. Thanks for choosing Budget."
Now...we'll see how long it takes and how many followups are needed to get the miles posted.
