Choice Privileges - Choice Privileges expired my points

This happened last Fall -- I checked my online account and found they had expired 8K of my points. I complained, and they restored half of the points.
So I am out about 4K points. Not really much to sneeze at, but I was a bit pissed they did this without much (if any) notice -- I don't recall getting any email about upcoming points expiry.

I think the expiration date shows on the website when you look at your account. I noticed last year and exchanged my points for miles before they expired. If you earn in this program as slowly as I do, it may be worthwhile to do that in the future.

Found under Choice website "Rules & Regulations":

Choice Privileges points expire on December 31, two years after the year in which they were deposited into your account unless forfeited or canceled earlier due to membership inactivity or otherwise in accordance to these rules and regulations.

If you have no activity for a period of 18 consecutive months, Choice may remove you from the Program and therefore terminate your account. If Choice removes you from the Program, you will forfeit your points.
