If I had a choice to stay at any hotel in Vegas, which one would you recommend? My only requirement is that it has a nice pool so that the kids can play in. Is the Mandalay Bay's beach good for kids?
I look forward to reading your responses. Thanks.

I would go for Mandalay Bay.
I am sure they will enjoy playing at the beach...

The Rio's "sandy-beach" pool may also be an option.

Just stay out of Moorea Beach :)
MB would be my pick as well.
Another option for young kids might be the Monte Carlo. They also have a lazy river and a wave pool but on a smaller scale.

 Each to their own I guess.
I am taking my kids to Vegas next week (by the way, they LOVE Vegas) and we're staying at the RIO for the first time. I'll let you know about the pool facilities when we get back. It looks like it should be a decent pool for kids, it has a sandy "beach" area by the looks of the virtual tour.
edited: sorry aamileslave...just noticed your reference to the sandy beach :)

and, paulTX, you can hang out at the Sapphire Pool (http://www.riolasvegas.com/casinos/rio/casino-misc/sapphire-pool-detail.html) area @ RIO. ;);)
Be sure to say hello to Steve (http://www.riolasvegas.com/casinos/rio/restaurants-dining/cafe-martorano-detail.html)... I've actually seen him @ the RIO Pool area a few times.

Yeah thanks...I'll suggest to my wife that she and the kids hang out at the sandy pool while I'm at Sapphire :D:D:D
UPDATED: Did just suggest that and I'm hoping the pain and swelling in my right eye will die down soon :)

SOLUTION : paulTX+wife @ the Sapphire pool, kids with babysitter @ the sandy pool.
With regard to RIO, you'll want a newly (last 2 years) renovated room in the Ipanema Tower. Of course, you can always try for the upgrade to a Masquerade or Cariocas (preferred) suite. Actually, the Cariocas suites (http://www.riolasvegas.com/casinos/rio/casino-misc/cariocas-suite-detail.html) in the Ipanema tower connect to a standard 2 bedded suite IIRC --- and would work quite well for a family.

:D
Thanks for the advice on the room type. I'm comped the 3 nights in a standard but will use all my charm (and $20-$50 tip) to see about an upgrade.
THANKS!

Hi Si_Ting_ca
We just got back from the Rio and I must say the whole experience was even better than anticipated. The rooms are large, which is a bonus if you have kids. The beds were very comfortable and clean. We had a room in the Ipanema tower.
The pool area is great for young kids. The "sandy beach" pool is exactly what it says. The beach leads into the pool and it remains very shallow in that area so the kids can play while you sunbathe. We went to Target and bought our 5 year old a bucket/spade for $1 and she had a great time making sand castles :)
I would absolutely return to the Rio again. My room number had 777 in it and it certainly rubbed off in the casino. All of my visits to the craps table were very kind to me. The dealers at Rio are extremely friendly and welcoming...One of them even "high fived" me when I rolled my point (a 4) as a hardway immediately after putting a $10 bet on the hard 4 for the dealers :D
Overall a great trip. Absolutely no complaints about the hotel.
Oh, just one word of warning though...the evening free show at the Rio has been sexed-up since last time we went. This resulted in my 5 year old aking "what are they doing" while 10-12 scantilly clad people were simulating humping on a huge bed. My 11 year son was mesmerized though!!! You might want to leave this off your list of activities for the kids.
