I have the UK Plat card. I thought that once I was non-resident the insurance benefits (including car rental) would no longer be valid. However, on checking it is the country of residence that is relevant. No problem with being permanently in Canada and continuing to hold the UK card and enjoying the benefits. However, as I will sometimes be renting a car in Canada without being on a "trip" I have also got the CDN Amex Aeroplan Gold card and will use this when renting locally (I am not going to own a car in Canada, so there may be short day rentals etc). Hoping I have got everything covered this way :) |
