Hey guys,

So i've read about the bus through Patagonia from Rio Grande to Ushaia. Its supposed to be beautiful scenery for the ride, but has anyone done this? I contacted on company by email and was told no advance reservations required - just show up around 3pm and the bus will leave sometime around then....

Also, since it crosses through Brazil on the way, has anyone had problems getting the advance visa? It's just a border crossing and then back into Argentina; so I don't have hotel, arrival / departure flight, etc, and with no advance booking for the bus ride, I'm just curious how to fill out the paperwork....

Brasil? Do you mean Chile or are you taking a 4 day bus ride.

the only decent scenery is in the last couple hours. FLY!

 US citizens don't need a visa for Chile; if crossing by land the reciprocity fee doesn't apply

hmm...my tour company has the form included in what I fill out to get an advance visa / approval. I'll have to go check the US GOV to verify. It may just be their generic packet to all peeps regardless of citizenship. It's my only overland crossing on this trip so the only form I'm having trouble filling out.

It's very likely it's a generic thing b/c they also require me to have the yellow fever vaccine and at the clinic today, the PA reviewed my itinerary and said it wasn't necessary for the regions I'm visiting....

whatever - to be safe I passed over the $200 and got the shot. apparently tomorrow i'll feel like crap.
