American Express Membership Rewards - 5000 Points for NY Times Sub

I dug around and I didn't see this posted, so here goes:

I got a note from the New York Times in my bill saying that if I start autopay with my American Express card, I will get 5000 extra points. I did. I haven't seen the points yet.

I was actually charging this to a cash-back Visa, which got 'compromised.' So they sent me a physical bill when the auto-pay was rejected. Lucky thing . . .

Hmm. Anyone else do this? I never got my 5000 points.

Do you have to switch autopay to your Amex or can you get the points if you are already using Amex?

Technically, I think I was off auto-pay since my VISA number changed. So in the paper bill that followed, I had an ad for the Amex deal. So I did it. But, nothing.
