bmi diamond club - Hello to FBers
Well, now that Flying Blue has become a joke of an FFP and nowhere near as attractive as Air Astana's Nomad Club (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/bmi-diamond-club/803003-air-astana-nomad-club-matching-bmi-status.html), :) it looks like we are going to get an influx of refugees (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/flying-blue-air-france-klm/924787-1st-april-status-match-goin.html) on their road to final settlement in LH's M&M (if, after all, they decide to pass on KC's FFP).
So, perhaps we should waive a collective coo-ee (or perhaps a more manly "hello mate" handshake/backslap ;)) to those new members, especially those who are still in the emergency refugee camp waiting for their status match, and offer our commiseration to Joanna for the work overload that FB are generating for her?

thanks, glad to be on board ;)
And a big welcome from me too to our new FB folks.
Is the DC board becoming a modern day version of Battlestar Galactica? (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xHD1uPVkyk0) where a rag tag band of Frequent Flyers try to find the promised land of Diamond Club? (Any comparisons of M&M with destructive Cylons would be a step too far though...!)

Depends. Are we talking old school Galactica or new school? :p
Welcome refugees. Lifeboat BMI is open for business.
Now please pay attention to the following safety demonstration
- For your initial questions, please visit http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/bmi-diamond-club/927937-read-first-bmi-diamond-club-new-faqs-seats-planes-promos-contacts.html
- For your toasted cheese sandwich, please choose the AMS-LHR service, please press the call button to warm up the APU so these can be prepared.
- The lifejack you have just used to escape FB cannot be used again. Please find a fresh lifejacket under your seat in case of an emergency, To active, simple run around like a headless chicken. Please inflate after leaving the board though.
- Please note we do not offer nice little delft houses after your flight. We suggest you take advantage of our meal deal (be you in Business or Economy) and take a Cheese Toastie/Breakfast Panini and carton of Ribena and be happy ;)
Finally. Welcome aboard :D

Welcome to all FB
Whats this? As a silver BD (with a few FB points), have I missed a notification from FB that they have expired?
Any chance I can get them converted (however limited) to Diamonds, do you think?

And I thought FT was one of the safer places I could come to not hear about the final two episodes I haven't had the time to watch!
But welcome to all the FB members making the migration to DC, and any Cylon tech you may be able to bring to the fleet.

And welcome from me. You can be rude about the French on this board, which is always a bonus ;)
Flying Blue qualification by sectors is still one of the easist ways to get status in any alliance (30 flights = Skyteam Elite Plus, equivalent to *G) but of course you now earn a pitiful number of miles. Personally I will still use it just as a way of having status when I'm travelling in economy at my own expense on Skyteam carriers. The worldwide lounges, preferential seating and free shoe shine at LCY are all useful ;) but I can see why the high-mileage customers are driven away.

Thanks for the warm welcome folks!
I am sure all of us former KL FD Royal Wings are more than willing to share our experiences when our former favourite airline was acquired by another and a great FF programme merged into a good one that has now become not more than a mediocre one...
Just don't want that to happen twice I guess.

Well luckily I've got my BD-G and FB-G.
No idea how long I'll stay FB-G, as I like AF, but the program is not what it once was.
Flying Blue qualification by sectors is still one of the easist ways to get status in any alliance (30 flights = Skyteam Elite Plus, equivalent to *G)Depends where you are based and where you tend to fly. With a continental European address, you can get to BA Silver (OW sapphire equivalent to ST E+ or *G) with 5 return CE trips. Given that a return CE trip on LGW routes is generally only a little more expensive than AF's 2-segment N fares, at any rate ex-LON (which generally start around £220 compared to LGW CE fares starting at £225-275 depending on destination) and that you need 7.5 4-segment trips to reach FB Gold, it is cheaper, quicker and more comfortable to reach OW Sapphire on BA than ST E+ on AF. And you get acces to better quality lounges than with AF. That assumes, however, that BA's LGW routes figure on your typical itineraries.

The only question I am asking myself ... why did it take me so long to come over here! AF-KL-FB are done after they pretty much killed their FQTV program yesterday.

Yes, that's a very good point. I was still thinking in terms of the regions or LCY where BA I class isn't so much of an option. Using LCY for EDI (£106 return all-in for lowest N class) makes segment qualification on AFKL a doddle and I top-up with a couple of six-sector trips to the USA on DL, NW or CO where the economy price is similar to BA but the Skyteam status wins the day.
I'm very happy with my experiences on Delta/Northwest and CityJet so they remain my 'bit on the side' from bmi. My FB mileage balance is embarassing, though - less than half what I get in BA from shopping at Tesco!

Sadly the meal deal is not available to passengers in Business :(
