Online Travel Booking and Bidding Agencies - Getting hotel point credit when using Priceline?

Anyone else have experience getting points while booking "prepaid" rooms with Priceline? Last week I stayed at the Cambridge, MA Marriott and asked at the desk if I could still get night credit even though they were prepaid rooms and I doubted I would get points. She said that she thought I could still get night credit and so she entered my Silver Marriott Rewards number. When I checked my balance a few days later, I not only got night credit but also received points for the room and incidentals. In this case I'm glad I didn't assume.

As a rule I would say you won't get credit with most chains. I know with Starwood you definitely will not get credit.

Many years ago when I stayed at a Marriot I did get a stay credit on a PL rate, but only when I purchased incidentals otherwise I didn't receive credit.

I have received credit for stays at Omni hotels on a PL stay.

There is a topic on betterbidding about this as well

Don't count on it but be happy when you get it. If you have status, you're more likely to get in-hotel benefits (upgrade, etc.), although you don't get much with silver Marriott. I always give my frequent guest number just in case.

give them the # but never assume. Your only supposed to get points on specific rates but soetimes it slides thru. Nothing ventured..........

Welcome to FlyerTalk, HockeyFlyer!

A few hotel companies do explicitly state their policies in this matter in their Terms and Conditions.

Starwood's T&C's , for one, specifically says that neither Star Points or stay credits are earned, and that elite benefits are not granted - however, they do give Star Points on incidental spend (restaurants, for example) that would otherwise qualify for points.

Hyatt does honor elite member perks and also gives points on incidental spend, but does not give point or stay credit for the overnight stay itself.

Hilton T&C's, on the other hand, exclude ANY earnings when staying at one of their hotels while during what their T&C's deem an "ineligible" stay.

Having said all of that, as has been noted above, there are times when the points and other perks are granted in spite of the T&C rules. Just be aware that these "earnings" are subject to audit, and removal of the improperly granted points if found.

Agree with all. Just like upgrades, don't count on it. Appreciate good fortune when it comes.
