Has anyone had any recent experiences with premium cars at alamo or national? What cars were available at the lot?
Has anyone been upgraded and to what car? And for what reason? Did you like the car you rented?

WHen you get out on the lot just smile and tip the lot guy/gal $5. It will work wonders. Tip the lot people only not at counter

Really, That sounds awesome! :D Do you think If I tipped the lot guy/gal $5 and said if there was a CTS available and I had a premium reservation and not a luxury, Do you think he would help me out? Do they really have the authority to do so?
I know that you can pick any car from the lot under your reservation. But sometimes I see, Mercury Grand Marquis, Chrysler products and Buick Lacrosse. All of which are just not anything to be excited about. ;)

gabrielsreign, welcome to FlyerTalk!
Have you checked out the National forum section? There's several US/Canadian locations listed as what cars they carry based on member observations. I'll give you the direct link to the LAS thread here:

The lot guy isnt the person that will determine the car class you pay. Yes he could pull one out, but if there are PCAR's you may get turned away at the exit booth or asked to pay an upgrade fee at that time.
Two weeks ago Alamo had Avalons and 300's on the premium lot. I took the 300, lots of power, smooth ride, MPG were kind of low - but I had fun!

Has anyone come across pontiac G8 GT in the premium aisle of Alamo? Or any G37s? or anything unexpected?

Not exactly true. The lot guys will initial or sign the receipt that they upgraded you. I am 2 for 2 with national and 2 for 2 with alamo reagarding upgrades tipping the lot guys. Also many many folks at the lva website have also had excellent success tipping the lot guy for an upgrade. It works more times than not thats for sure.
To me IMO it worth the try

Never seen a G8 there before. There is a wide variety at LAS, but nothing super exciting in the Alamo/National lineup. For the crazy stuff, pay more and rent from Avis. The descriptions in the National thread referenced above accurately describe the cars at LAS.

Any updates on premium cars? Do alamo and national share their cars and does an alamo customer get to pick up from a national car line up as well? I will be going midweek next week. I have heard that you have a better chance of scoring a good car midweek like a thursday or a friday evening rather than on a saturday or a sunday. Is that true?
