It was one of the truly magnificent revues that gave
Glitter Gulch some of its sparkle & excitement
I believe the original in Paris is also long gone
The only big revue left is the reworked (many times)
"Jubilee" at what is now known as Bally's
This show is the last of the Donn Arden lavish
productions originally called "Hallelujah Hollywood"
at what was then known as the MGM Grand before
the tragic fire
Now it's all French Canadian avant garde and very
cut down Bus & Trucks from Broadway

After 10 years of "doing" Vegas once of twice a year, seeing all the shows, I must admit, I never made it to "Les Folies Bergere". It was always one of those we never got around to and to be honest I am surprised it survived as long as it did.
Been to see Jubilee only because it featured in a documentary on UK tele.
Suspect the Lido de Paris or Moulin Rouge in Paris would be more authentic for this type of show; especially with the strict rules which would restrict a Paris show being put on in Vegas. Alcohol and baring all are not allowed together.

I would have thought Folies would have been grandfathered in had they decided to bare all, just like the Palamino Club.

They were. I saw Follies a few months ago. The early show was considered the family show and the girls were covered. Late show was the adult show and the girls were topless. And yes, the bar was open!

All the MAJOR revues were allowed upper half & much
of the lower half to be exposed unlike the total nudity
at some (or many) of the stripshows
Sorry to see most of them gone
I had worked on the original MGM show

Can I recommend the new show at Planet Hollywood called Peepshow as a modern day version of Les Foilies Bergere.
Great singers with Josh Strickland from American Idol (season 1) and Mel B (Scary Spice from the Spicegirls).
Exotic in parts, a bit of rope and arial acrobatics, a weak story line based on nursery rhymes and lots of on stage striping down to underwear and "pasties".
Never seen anyone strip while swinging half way up around a dance pole before (but then I never tend to visit such establishment anyway. :o )
Definitely aimed a the male convention crowd but women/wifes do get some interesting sights as well but not until the later half of the show. This show succeeds where Zumanity did not.

PeepShow was excellent! Saw some spanish web moves that I've never seen before - e.g. back lever. One-armed outward hang from a rotating ball (similar to a 2-armed flagpole).
The dancing with stars lady was very hot!
One of the dancers (short black lady) was an amazing dancer (Los Angeles Edge-quality) and a delight to watch.
My $180 ticket was comped, but they are offering many discounts in the first month (before the April 18 official open). Likewise, many of the Cirque shows are 25-50% off.
