Air New Zealand Air Points - Premium Economy exit row - how sure is my selection?

I am booked on a Premium Economy seat AKL-LAX early August, at this stage it's a 747. I have selected 22K upstairs (ie exit row), and was surprised I was able to do that, my experience is that it's allocated on checkin with most airlines.

Here's my question. I want (of course!) to max my chances of a reasonable seat. From this forum's rich wealth of knowledge, do you think it's likely that (as a non-FF with ANZ) i'd get bumped for someone else who has better status? I don't want to select the exit if there's not a chance of my getting it - better would be to choose one of the second option seats now.

BTW, I'm fit, English is my first language, and i always get exit if it's not allocated, so that wouldn't be an issue. Not a Air NZ frequent flyer program member, although i'm a (low status) Star Alliance with UA.

Thanks, Geri

Welcome to Flyer Talk gerivaug :)

No seats are guaranteed but chances of a bump from a pre-selected seat are low. There is probably more chance of an aircraft swap to 777 (which flight are you on NZ2 or NZ6?). Note some people don't like those seats because you are looking straight at business class.

Thanks Kiwi Flyer. I am NZ6 going across, NZ1 coming back.

I guess the next q would be is there any pattern of when planes are swapped, would it be something that tends to happen day before/month before or no pattern?
