did you go to
betterbidding.com
and look at their hotel list or winniing bids?

And if you do go to betterbidding.com, you can click through from there on to Priceline and look at their "Winners Board" also. I'm convinced you can do a little better than they show, but it will still give you a good idea as to what is possible.
Also, from betterbidding.com you can click through to hotwire.com and see what they come up with. Then there are two possibilities - you can go back to betterbidding.com and see if they can "ID" hotwire's offering, or you can use the hotwire number as a cap for your bidding on priceline.

By clicking through to hotwire and priceline from betterbidding, betterbidding gets a little revenue and keeps this informative board in business for all of us.

I went to betterbooking and poked around. Clicked thru to priceline and got the Renaissance Hotel + Spa Hollywood for $90/nt. Great location for our weekend and price was more than decent. Thanks again for the intro to betterbooking

See what kind of a deal you can get at the Palomar, Westwood. Several friends have stayed there recently and were pleased. Excellent location.

I've had to bid for the area sporadically on PL, with mixed results. Used to be the best value in the city by far via PL was hotel row along Century Blvd. in the LAX zone, though often that meant no free parking at the hotel (tried side-of-the-street parking to avoid it once).
Otherwise I usually end up someplace like Burbank, since I usually aim for sub-$50.
