Cape Air service between LNC and BWI started this week. I believe they also started service to Hagerstown this week too. We'll see how long this lasts.

I just don't see a big/long term market for this service.

With check in, security, etc it's gotta be almost as fast to drive. Additionally, with only 9 seats per flight it has to be pretty expensive per seat to operate.
I don't see a big demand for this among the amish living near Lancaster :D

I go to school in Lancaster, there are plenty of non-Amish people. The problem is there just isn't a demand for flights from Lancaster, which is US Air pulled out a couple years ago.
There is a demand for families heading to florida and such which is why there are charter flights around spring break to Orlando, but they are on Southwest 737.
No family would take the flight even at $60 a/i o/w is $480 for a family of 4. So you are left with buisness travelers. If they travel alot they are probably elite on US Air out of PHL. BWI is a Southwest hub and a lot of biz travelers wont fly it. (I am not trying to start a WN debate, personally I love the airline. Just stating fact.)
