Other Car Rental Programs/Partners (ie. Alamo, Enterprise, Sixt) - Sixt: Charge for more than 200km per day

I was really shocked when I read that Sixt changed their so called "rental structure" in Germany:

There are only 200km included per day. A few days ago, there was no limit. The limit for a weekend rental (Friday-Monday) is now 600km which is not a lot IMO.

The charge for additional kilometres depends on the car type, e.g. 0,20€/km for CPMR.

I really have a problem now as I am not able to switch to a competitor due to age restrictions. However, I hope they will elevate the amount to at least 1000km per weekend which would be at least appropriate...

This is similar to the trial balloons of Enterprise, Avis, and Budget. The companies want to see what they can get away with. See the previous posts on this subject.

Thanks for posting ^ This is pretty bad news and I hope that this rule won't last too long. Meanwhile I'll rent with Hertz…

Just had a rental car from SIXT and drove more than the 200km...:(

I will wait and see if they actually charge for the additional kilometers. Since the cars odometer was not calibrated (in Germany it needs to be in order to charge per km ;) ) I am willing to fight them on the additional charges.

If they cannot produce an official certificate that the odometer is calibrated by the authorities, they will have hardly a chance of charging.

Hhhhmmmm, maybee a FLYING LAWYER wants to sue :D :D :D

This new really shocked me, as I have about 80 rentals per year with SIXT and most of them are > 200 km.

Fortunatelly, I found out after checking, that my corporate rate still includes unlimited milage :)

OT but anyway: Shouldn't 80 rentals per year qualify for a Sixt Diamond card? :)

I stopped renting with Sixt for now and moved all my business to Hertz - 5 rentals already. I'd like to rent with Sixt again but not under the current circumstances.

what cdp would be useful with hertz in germany for weekends? lh m&m are easily going to 170e for sdmr... could drive some extra-km and sixt would still be cheaper.
btw, i think sixt lowered the prices for convertibles and they had limited km included anyway. 1series convertible for less than 100e for a weekend doesnt sound to bad. (if you're getting an upgrade to a new z4 :-) )

Hope that helps everybody when argueing with the people from Sixt.

BTW, they charged for the kilometers  and when I mentioned something to the station manager I was refunded right away.....:p

Booking over the LH contract is not possible.

good news: obviously Sixt recognized that it was a very bad idea to introduced the mileage-limit.

--> www.sixt.de (big promotion: unlimited mileage and 20% off all rates)

Smart move by SIXT. This program-change would have cost them a real lod of customers.
Seems, that whis was just a April-joke ;)

Bad news:

The charge for additional kilometres is back. Base amount is now 300km a day, price per additional kilometre varies depending on the car type.

waht´s your source for that news?

I can´t see this on any of my rates as well as for the normal rate.

Only thing that has changed: there is a limit of 900 km per weekend for the weekend rates.
This fortunatelly doesn´t count for day-rentals.

And in my oppinion 900 km for a weekend is quite fair, considering the low we-rates.

... at least way better than the former 200 km limit per day :)

Well, now I also see that the limit only affects weekend-rentals (including one-day weekend rentals).

On June 22 there was a limit stated for any reservation via the ADAC-Homepage, but now it's gone, at least for weekdays...strange, but good for customers ;)
