While browing the ichotel site, just bump into this link:

http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/6c/1/en/c/2/content/dec/teaser/6c/1/en/lp/apac/asiasale.html

try it out. It said that a new Asia sale is coming up.

Looking forward to the sale date!

It's good to see there's another sale coming up. The last Asia sale ended up being a bit weak with the pricing on offer, especially compared to the Accor sale on at the same time. Hopefully they'll have some more attractive pricing on offer this time.

Does anyone know if this promo will include Japan? The last Japan promo which just ended a couple of days ago did not include Holiday Inns, but this one seems that it will.

I was told it would not include Japan.

I think you may be disappointed though. I have seen two online adverts - 1 for Holiday Inn and one for Crowne Plaza, and they had the same prices as last time (USD69 and USD99)

Decisions decisions will need to be made should IC HKG drop below 1500HKD per night

According to the above link, the new asia sale has HI from $59 and CP from $73 and IC from $88. So, slightly better pricing than the last asia sale. BUT, the last asia sale allowed for sale pricing through part of December, 2009 and the upcoming promo is only for stays through July 31 (at least per the above link).

that link mentioned sales in "southeast asia". Any guesses exactly which countries will be included?

The February sale was limited to 34 hotels. The link provided above about the April sale refers to sales across its 144 hotels in Asia. I guess we'll know in another week whether ALL IHG Asia hotels are participating.

I've been looking at BKK, and I can stay at the Sheraton Grande paying 3 nights for 2, or I can stay at the Marriott Resort paying 3 nights for 2.

But the Holiday Inn? No deal. And I can get the Courtyard Marriott cheaper than it, and even the Marriott Resort and Spa cheaper than the HI!

Able to load dates now. Looks like the Hong Kong IC has some bargain rates.

I'll be keeping my eyes open between now and then. We'll see what comes up.

I was able to load dates, get pricing, and even booking.

However, only the lower end rooms are available, no executive rooms/suites that I can see. I find the F&F rate better with wider selection of rooms/suites.

I was checking Crowne Plaza at Kuala Lumpur - the rates seem already loaded - they are viewable not only from the promo page, but also from the regular booking page. However, I am not sure whether these are left over from last Asia Sale or for this new round.

Anyway, my date is a Friday and the Weekend Special with brekkie actually is 60 MVR cheaper than the comparable Asia Sale rate which does not include brekkie!

Both are prepaid rates and naturally I went for the Weekend Special - which does not show when you check from the promo page!

IC HK comes up with good prices, but only has their lowest category rooms on sale (typically RAs wouldn't get harborview upgrades from these rooms). Also, some of these rates seem to be surprisingly high (IC SIN for $196 SGD?! -- have stayed there last week for $138 SGD). Does anyone have a complete price list?

2 or 3 weeks ago I looked, they started from 190,000 W. Today the same lowest cat is 177,000 W. That is hardly a discount.

IC HKG shows 1550HKD++ for the days I want, but plaza view only.

I want to be in a harbour view and willing to pay for it but doesnt show up.

A few days ago I was trying to book a 3-day weekend stay at CP Beijing using the Weekend Special Rate, which was Rmb 698/night with 2 breakfast. I waited until this Asia Sale comes up and the new rate is 498/night, but without breakfast. I am told by the hotel if I need breakfast for 2 I need to add 150 per day per person, so the price became 798 Rmb/night:eek:!!!. I then want to switch back to the Weekend Special Rate but now the Weekend price shows on the website has been changed to 848/night!

So that's the long-awaited Asia Sale - you have to pay 100~150 Rmb more per night unless you don't need breakfast.

Any suggestions?:p

I would wait for the sale to be over and then see if the weekend rate goes back down.

Rates for the IC BKK are not great. Really no dif from advance purchase rates. Not much of a Big Asia Sale, is it.

oh no - I booked in the last Asia sale at $196++. Naive me assumed it was a good deal. Not happy - the booking is non-refundable. Any tips??

The only rooms available in IC HKG at this rate is the cheapest rooms. Price still higher than F&F. Even with RA upgrade you are still looking at traffic.

The major difference is, this sale qualifies for pts and stay credit while F&F does not.

Fwiw, I have received stay credit and points for my last five F&F bookings (100% thus far). Given the IC HK's RA upgrade policy (i.e., book anything w/o harbor view --> upgrade to jr. suite without harbor view), I wouldn't consider booking an inferior room under the Asia Sale rate. Why stay at the IC HK and have a view of the street?

Overall, this sale is pretty disappointing (or maybe I haven't found the real gems). There were some ok-ish deals at the ICs in PNH and PEK, and KRW 220k for a jr. suite at the IC Grand Seoul is quite decent as well, but nothing to get excited about.

Shock of Shocks, the IC Bangkok finally has lowered its rates. Advance purchase rates are now much lower than just 3 days ago, and much lower than the Great Sale Rates. Club room rate is THB 5325 (or USD $150). RAs will be upgraded to Corner Suite (excellent rooms) This is an excellent rate! I think IC BKK is eating some humble pie now.

I can only see THB6,580 for the club room and that is great asia sale rate.

Ok I just want to make sure that F&F gets credited as qualifying stay before booking. F&F is a lot cheaper than any sale around.

Anyone can confirm this.

Is F&F a " Qualifying Stay" getting the full points?

Is F&F a " Qualifying Stay" getting the full points?

No. F&F is not supposed to earn points. However, like many rates that aren't supposed to be eligible for credit (e.g., Entertainment card, Priceline), F&F stays often do earn points.

the hi bangkok (next to the IC) is 2,450 batt for several days (about $70)

and the hi resort in phuket is 2889 batt. (about $82 before fees)

I gather those are pretty good rates

If RA benefits and points are important, I would not think someone should book the F&F rate, unless they are prepared to do without. While some folks have reported that they got points with these rates, the IC London has advised me no points and no beneifts on these rates. Also, the IC BKK told me no RA upgrade, free minibar, early check-in on these rates, as these rates are coded as "employee rates".
For me the RA benefits are worth a few extra bucks for the peace of mind.

Is F&F a " Qualifying Stay" getting the full points?

(sorry for posting twice)

Officially, NO per the T&C. However it is HIGHLY DEPENDENT to Individual hotels how they handle it - there is no guarantee, and you cannot request it if the stay / pts do not post. My guess is it is largely due to the training of the hotel staff as well as the hotel's in-house accounting system.

So it is up to you to decide which is more important - the good rates but uncertainty of getting the benefits, or a more expensive rate that ensures all the benefits.

Got good deals in Chongqing Exec Floor HI (390Y) and Shenzhen IC (590Y)

I didn't think $69 for HI and $99 for CP was much to write home about anyway.
