Hi Everyone. I am new at this but thought I would give it a try. I just got back from a two week trip to Costa Rica. I got there and was renting from one of the big companies. But when I got to the counter they wanted twice what they qouted me. So i asked around and was suggested to call Colones Auto Rental. I did and got got a real nice 4x4 SUV for about half the price. It was like a 2006 model and worked great. Traveled most of the country issue free. And what I really liked is their contracts were in English, so I knew what I was signing. So I picked up the SUV the airport and dropped it off there when I left. They helped me with directions and kind of gave me a run down on what to be careful about in my travels. It was like they really cared and just weren't doing a job. Anyway thats my two since. I do not normally take the time to do this, but I know how tough things are today and wanted to give them a plug.;)

Like a lot of people probably I am more apt to rent with the major rental companies such as Hertz and Avis especially when visiting foreign destinations as the familiarity of the brand conveys a sense of assurance in the rental process. That said, I believe I've tried just about every one of the major rental companies down in SJO and have been disappointed significantly nearly everytime. I'm not sure what the dynamic is there but it's very annoying.

It's nice to hear that there is a reliable local company. Thanks for passing that along.
