So I'll be flying LGA-ATL-ELP on Friday to visit some relatives. I've never been to the El Paso airport before and based on some pictures I've found online it looks pretty unique. If anyone has any experience with this airport, could you share some comments on the overall feel of the airport? Is it cramped, are the employees generally nice, is it usually crowded, etc?

Thanks all for your insights!

It's a small airport, usually not very crowded at the times I've been there. There are shops on the outside of security, which is nice (Dayton doesn't which makes for a boring wait for non-passengers) but not much inside. The people (including TSA) seem to be nice as well, and I think the longest I've waited in security was about 15 minutes (line was backed up to the top of the stairs, then another line on the first floor). Which airline are you flying? I have always flown AA out, and there are only 2 gates in that side of the airport.

I'm flying Delta so it looks like I'll be on the more spacious side of the terminal.

Pleasant small airport with friendly service and usually no crowds or long lines. Easy in, easy out. Usually have family pick us up. Parking is close in and easy to get to . Last time I rented a car (Enterprise) the cars are on site so quick to walk to the parking lot and get on my way. A few southwestern type shops, a restaurant, and an outdoor patio bar which is nice for sitting while waiting for your flight. All of that is pre-security so we can sit with our family while we wait.

As an FF and a resident ELP, here is my take:

- small spacious airport where the 1hr check in time is not really necssary for afternoon flights. TSA wil take less than 15min in the aftrnoon. Morning flights get busy and therfore checkin 1r before is more than necessary.

-- no lounges or free wifi

-- have your family pck u up curbide

-- restaurant outside security is decent -- it is a branch of a very old family mexican restaurant which is excellent.

hope this helps

Reminds me of RNO & terminal 2 at Phx. Good Mexican place on the first level. Damn good rita's (-:
