Budget Travel - Anyone else notice LCCs filling up?

My own very unscientific survey, looking at possible trips I could take on Spirit or Allegiant from ATL or CHA or GSP, shows both airlines lately selling out of the rock-bottom seats on more dates than before, as well as selling out the plane on more dates. It's mostly Florida routes, but even timeframes like late April thru mid-May (the spring lull) are looking fairly heavy. I thought at first it was spring break, but it's going past those dates.

Until recently Spirit was selling some seats on ATL-FLL in the $9 fare sales for close-in dates, but lately the first availability for those has been in early May. Allegiant also looked unusually heavy out of CHA and GSP for the next 2 months or so.

I wonder if it's being seen in other parts of the country. Pent-up demand? People trying to do something cheaper rather than doing without?

Gee, have you looked at the sales that legacies are having? They are matching LCC's sales, so unless you get those crazy single digit prices there's still no need to fly LCCs unless you really want to.

My winter flights on WizzAir and Windjet have been packed.

The load seems to be pretty good on LCCs round here (mainland Europe) compared to legacy carriers according to reports I'm getting.

I probably should have said ULCCs. In ATL AirTran usually gets matches, though if they do a good enough sale (like sub-$100 RT) for farther than 240 or so miles DL usually bottoms out around $129. It's not always dollar for dollar. Spirit never gets matched, even on deals not in the $9 range (like the $200s and $300s to the Caribbean). Allegiant has quite a bit of stealth as well because of using the smaller alternate airports in some places.
