American Express Membership Rewards - spg account question

Here's a question that should be simple but has me baffled.
Recently got a Starwood Amex; have actually received a statement and paid. Have never received anything regarding Starwood Points, have tried to figure out how to register online and can't. Understood that I would be automatically enrolled upon getting the card.
Am I just missing something here? Should they send me something or do I register online and then link the card?
Thanks.

Call your AMEX Customer Service #. They will tell you the SPG acct the points are being sent to.
When I got the card years ago, it took two cycles to realize I wasn't getting my points. They had set up a new account but quickly transferred the points to my existing account. No big deal.

Well, that did it. I appreciate the help.
What was really sort of shocking was the Amex customer service - very quick, friendly and helpful. I am used to Citibank "service" which I think is getting worse (and increasingly overseas) every time I call.

Starwood is first class imo.
Once you set up your acct number and password, the spg.com website is very easy to use and will do a good job of tracking points and making award reservations.
You can also starwood track points with your other FF accounts on Mileagemanager.com (paid) and awardwallet.com (free).
