Sixt - GPS tracking on Sixt cars?View Full Version : GPS tracking on Sixt cars? sindjic Mar 19, 09, 2:16 am Do you guys know if any rental agencies in Europe have GPS devices hidden in their cars to track them? Just wondering... erc Mar 20, 09, 1:11 pm Back in the late 90's Europcar had stickers in some cars indicating that they were tracked. I did see a few of them myself when I was working for Europcar, Sweden. All the cars I did see with these stickers were on german plates. We had a huge problem with rental cars disapperaring to the east in those days. Guess that's far better now. Haven't seen these stickes for years now, even on Audi A8's, Mercedes S-classes etc. Wiggums Mar 24, 09, 11:49 am Or what if they're not warning you anymore? I don't know what the EU laws are, but I have rented numerous cars from Sixt, Europcar, Hertz, Avis, Budget, and more for the past five years - and none of them ever had warning stickers. Yes, even Obereluxus - Benz S320CDI, BMW 740d, etc. Maybe in the past they did, but not anymore. You can always try asking. :) Are you planning on taking the car to Russia? powermode01 Mar 24, 09, 8:13 pm I wonder if they use onboard GPS to see where you go or find the car (must have a cell phone to dail out). |
