ua has new fares that are K, at least that's what I have been looking at here on the west coast. Not sure but some of these fares were due to end yesterday and or today

K... W's $1975 (JFK-SYD-AKL-SYD-JFK in w is $1621: not too bad for W)

If you can do this thru HNL, 15K mi for an upgrade each way is not such a bad deal, so would 5 500-milers.

Hmmmm .bomb and orbitz are F'ing it up on flights where L class is available. It gives you L class to SFO/LAX and S class the rest of the way. Not a good way to go.

We managed to upgrade the LAX-SYD portion of our SFO-HNL-LAX-SYD-LAX-HNL-SFO k-fare itin with SWUs. And the LAX-HNL-SFO return portion cleared with a single e-500. So only 3 legs were in coach, but it was still rather miserable! Domestic F following international Y is not enough to reverse the pain!

(OK, my feet are killing me as I sit at SFO waiting for our repositioning flight back to DEN. But yea, I'd do it again. Just not tomorrow!)

I just tried a multi-city search, and it appears it might be (very sadly) true. And here I was all excited about this being a siginificant boost to my getting and retaining 1k! If anyone discovers this is back, please post!

You were lucky! I tried to upgrade with SWUs on K fare but no go!! I tried multiple times with different people. I did manage to upgrade SFO-HNL-LAX on one 500-miler, though. :)

Im not interested in flying UA to SYD to get CO credit, Im 6k away from requalifying for Plat '10

Its just why blow the 100% bonus miles a PE would get onto their UA acct, also a PE (CO Gold) gets access to UAs Lounges on Intl flights for free as well as Biz check-ins and preboarding and elite access at the security lanes

It actually is only a coincidence. October 24 is the end of the summer 2009 schedule in IATA-world, which is why that date was chosen by CO and why the fare expires then.

I'm getting it down to $801 with a makeable harlem shuffle. On an unmakeable but bookable one I get $781. On an unmakeable one I can get it down to $733 that it will price but won't let me book.

I can find $705 for the weekend of 5/8 to 5/10 (same day return from Sydney) 3.6 cpm before DEQM/1P Bonus. No missed work is nice, but I'm just not sure that I can handle that much flying.

EDIT: Found fare of $705 on ITA but can't find it anywhere to book for under $715

I am coming up with $696 A.I. ...Negotiater will book it for you . I just negotiated with him and he is adamant that I book the JFK-SYD for $696 A.I. for same day turnarounds..

Out of NY it seems the Negotiater is standing pat as he isnt offering anything what so ever. Unlike those in Blues land which is a hub.

He has no problems if I start out from NY where Im based but in order to stop by by relatives up North I have to fly via Blues Land only.

Maybe he just doesnt like me and therefore isnt making any offer. The offer via Blues Land is only a disc of $75 which is alot more then it would cost me to get back home after having visited with my relatives.

I've been studying (practicing maybe a better term) my MR search skills. But given that United setup the DEQM promo today, I'm sorta anxious to get my run booked!

I'm out of DEN, and the best I've been able to do to MEL is DEN-LAX-SYD-MEL, then MEL-SYD-SFO-LAX-DEN for $862 in late April. I prefer those dates, but others are possible.

Further, I understand this is specifically about JFK, etc. But if someone could help me out, I'd really appreciate it.

Every time I look at this fare, I come to the same conclusion: I would rather do 6 transcons over six weekends than one JFK-SYD in Y.

does anyone know how to look up what the fare basis codes are being used by Uncle Williams website? I can see what they are on Orbitz or .bomb but maybe Uncle William is using other ones and I want to make sure Id get my proper amount of miles. some fare basis codes dont earn miles or at least not 100%

Just a quick tip about Uncle William's website is:

As long as you are not tell him what to charge you, on UA you will get 100% rdm.

there were many times on Orbitz to Europe where they had a great fare on a SkyTeam Partner when I saw the fare code and checked it more often then not it was a fare that yielded 0 miles thats both EQMs and RDMs or the likes of 25 or 50%.

so saving some nice $$ wasnt worth it unless I had already requalified for the Status I wanted to.
