Las Vegas - Players tipping other playersView Full Version : Players tipping other players Kohoutek Mar 17, 09, 1:27 pm Have you ever received tips from other players at the tables? Have you ever tipped other players? Kohoutek SQ4000 Mar 17, 09, 2:05 pm Have you ever received tips from other players at the tables? Have you ever tipped other players? Kohoutek If you are talking about money/gaming chips, then the answer is never and never. bhatnasx Mar 17, 09, 2:34 pm I've placed bets on the hardways for a shooter who is on a good roll in craps before. I'll place dealer bets regularly on the hardways as well. narossa Mar 17, 09, 5:13 pm Have you ever received tips from other players at the tables? Have you ever tipped other players? Kohoutek I have never ever. Have you? And what game? Goosey Mar 17, 09, 5:28 pm I've seen that happen a few times at the Craps table. It's a little bit weird when I see a grown straight male tipping another grown straight male. Usually I see a girl (who made almost nothing out of her roll) get tipped. Indy Racer Mar 17, 09, 5:33 pm I've never done this, nor been the receiver of a tip. But I have seen it a couple of times by some high rollers at the craps table. Once at Ceasar's when a shooter had a good roll going: hitting points, hard ways, numbers on the hop, etc. After a rolling for about 20 minutes , a big spender (playing blacks and purples) at the end of the table placed a few hard ways for the shooter and he hit them. At the end of the roll, the big spender walked down and gave the shooter a few chips. Couldn't tell how many but looked like a few blacks! I on the other hand walked a way with a fist full of reds....but more than I started with so was very happy. kingalien Mar 17, 09, 5:34 pm I've seen it a couple of times one of which was a black chip to a very good shooter though the guy who made the tip had quite a bit of yellow and purple chips upon cash out. As for me, no and no. briankoenig Mar 17, 09, 6:20 pm Once at a $10 pai-gow poker table I tipped another player $100. However, she was my girlfriend, and it was because she had lost all of her chips. :D yojimbo Mar 17, 09, 6:40 pm At the craps table at Paris in 2001, I rolled about ten 10's while another guy was betting $1,000-$2,000 on 10. The guy made over $20K on my roll.....when i finally sevened out, he gave me three black chips ($300). I told him there was no need to tip me, but he insisted. I felt a little weird about getting tipped by another guy. goalie Mar 17, 09, 9:26 pm i have been the recipient..... the first time i shot craps (and trust me, it was truly beginner's luck as it's been downhill ever since), i shot for over an hour with one player walking out with just over $8,500 when i finally crapped out and he flipped me a $500 chip via the stick man  IK in Seattle Mar 17, 09, 9:26 pm Once at a $10 pai-gow poker table I tipped another player $100. However, she was my girlfriend, and it was because she had lost all of her chips. :D I think the only time I've seen it is Pai Gow, when one player shakes the dice and another players gets a killer hand, like a Royal. gengar Mar 17, 09, 9:50 pm I was tipped $7k by a player once; he'd apparently had a terrible run and when I began to play, allowed me to make the cuts and he won his money back in something like 3 shuffles. I refused the tip, and even told the pit boss that I thought the player was drunk, but the player pushed the chips at me and refused to take them back. He hadn't tipped the dealers a cent while I was there, so I just tipped it to the dealers. One of the pit bosses called a floor supervisor who made the guy sign some type of form. I didn't actually see the form, so have no idea what the form entailed or even what type of liability the casino might be trying to escape by having such a form. Oh yeah, I asked the pit boss later if the guy was just plain loaded or known for this type of silly thing (more than anything I was surprised he tipped me rather than the dealers), but according to the pit boss, the guy's credit line was a lot less than mine. Oh well, not gonna criticize someone for being happy to win his money back. We've all been there. As for the original topic of tipping players, I won't do it. For example, in craps I don't get the concept of tipping a hot shooter. After all, I don't ask a cold shooter to give me back some of the money I lost, either. kingalien Mar 17, 09, 9:55 pm I won't tip other players. For example, in craps I don't get the concept of tipping a hot shooter. After all, I don't ask a cold shooter to give me back some of the money I lost, either. Exactly. One guy was waiting for me to tip him as he looked at my pile of chips. I said thank you. mbstone Mar 17, 09, 10:58 pm On very rare occasions, while playing craps in Las Vegas, people have toked me. On even rarer occasions I have toked another player. But if someone tokes me and does not also toke the dealers, I will toke the dealers, just to lead by example, the dealers do appreciate it. Another time I was standing next to this pleasant young lady who had $20 red. She took the dice and managed to run her $20 up to $200 while I managed to run my $200 up to $2000. She suggested what I can only describe as a quasi-community-property arrangement for my $2000. Weez_1000 Mar 19, 09, 9:20 am Ive been tipped at the crap table, I was on a hot roll probably made 4 or 5 numbers including hardways and others and had to catch a flight. I had just made a 5 (My Point) and attemped to cash out and pass the dice when one of the others at the table threw me a $500 chip and asked me to stay for one more roll, I did, I threw a seven after making several numbers but not my point and left. I had to make him 10K in the 30-40 minutes that i was rolling. I made my flight but just barely. VirtuallyDevious Mar 20, 09, 8:28 pm This has happened to me twice in Vegas on craps rolls. I'm a chick, though, so I think that helps. ;) Once, at Encore, I rolled for a looooong time and kept hitting 2s and 12s. I made some guy at the other end of the table an insane amount of money. I don't know how much exactly but I do know he made $6000 off one roll. He didn't tip me a huge amount, maybe $100 in green, but I just went COOL! A TIP! NEAT! Sadly the guy had just put down 100 on a 12 for me when I crapped out... shucks... I must have rolled at least 7 or 8 2s and 12s. Half the table loved me, half the table hated me. ;) Dealers were astonished, one actually bet me (kiddingly) that there was NO WAY I'd roll another crap after about 6 rolls and voila... kept doing it. I think I rolled a 'normal' number twice or so. It was a crazy night. Another time I rolled for probably 30 or 40 minutes and made a lot of people a lot of money. It was at MGM, and some guy tossed me 50 when I crapped out at long, long last. Sure wish I'd been playing more than just the pass line on those turns.... ;) But I'm too superstitious to bet those crazy numbers when it's me rolling. kingalien Mar 20, 09, 9:23 pm This has happened to me twice in Vegas on craps rolls. Please let is know the next time your in Vegas. :) UAfan Mar 22, 09, 12:22 am Please let is know the next time your in Vegas. :) I was just thinking the same thing! ;) Oh, and OP, my answers are yes and yes. :D Seen player tips happen on almost every trip. Sometimes VERY generous ones! Lonely Flyer Mar 22, 09, 3:47 pm At times you catch a good roll and the shooter barely doubles his $50 stake so if I have done well I will give him $50 to $100. I do not look at it as a tip but rather a bonus for making me a goodly sum of money unlike AIG where the bonus is paid for losing an incredible amount of money. "The Venetians pillage Rhodes"[1125] mctrees02 Mar 23, 09, 3:19 pm Last night after "O" we hopped on a $25 table for a few minutes that looked like it was running well. Somehow, we walked into the middle of a 30+ minute roll that had an open spot. We made some nice money...the shooter did ok...but then 2 guys at the other end of the table tossed her $1500 in tips when she finished. 2 other guys tossed her $100 in chips. I know that one guy made $15k on a roll when he had 5 dimes on the 12 in the field (pays triple...sorry if there's a specific name for that spot but I just know it as being in the field) and she rolled it. We left when she crapped out so my $5 tip didn't look so hot! ;) Kohoutek Mar 24, 09, 4:58 pm At times you catch a good roll and the shooter barely doubles his $50 stake so if I have done well I will give him $50 to $100. Kohoutek buffcoat Mar 24, 09, 6:00 pm I got tipped $100 by a relatively attractive but extremely, extremely drunk woman one night at the Wyndham. I had made her about $5,000 and me about $150 in about a ten-minute stretch (at a $5 table). She had been promising to tip shooters all night, and I said, "well come on, then," when she said it to me. She did. Unfortunately, she walked behind the pit boss to do it. He took exception, of course. She said, "F--- you! I just made $5,000!" He motioned to security. She literally got on the floor and grabbed onto the leg of the table. They had to manually remove her hands from the table leg and drag her out. I quietly pocketed the $100, but the story has brought me far more enjoyment over the years. ;) PokerHammy Mar 24, 09, 7:03 pm On craps, I've been tipped and have tipped others by betting on hardways for them. I shot 14 points and a bunch of numbers at the Peppermill on a $2 craps table years ago, and I was betting only $2 and double odds. I walked away with close to a grand with my timid betting, but there was a big better with racks of black chips, which he then rolled one over to me at the end. I also hit a bunch of horn so each time I hit midnight, some guy threw me a green chip as he made out with his weird bets. ;) prncess674 Apr 5, 09, 1:53 pm As a fairly young female I have had men tip me for good plays (BJ) and rolls (craps) over the years. Some as much as a couple hundred most in the smaller category. As long as they seem happy I accept, smile and offer a congratulatory cheers with my cocktail. Guys like playing big pimpin' in a casino and I gladly oblige. One time at the Hard Rock in Vegas I was way too "not" sober to play, but my friend was playing at a BJ table. There was a group of fun guys playing at the table. Periodically through out the game I would whisper in the ear of the guy sitting next to my friend "bet big" and every time I did he would do it and win big. He ended up in the cabana next to us the next day and I never bought a drink all afternoon. :) I have no super powers. You were in the typical situation of being a low-roller who's hot with the dice at a table with high-rollers or prop bettors. Kohoutek zohyeahz Apr 6, 09, 8:13 am Maybe it's a feature of being young and having breasts, but I have rarely been to Vegas or Atlantic City without some guy giving me a tip at some point. Best one ever was $100. Helps offset the losses :P 4444 Apr 6, 09, 8:18 am yes. have thrown the shooter, in craps, a few bucks when hitting a streak. if i have done well at any table, when leaving the table, i may throw a few chips to some down on their luckers.:) BCMike Apr 6, 09, 7:27 pm I've gotten tipped on Blackjack. If I'm playing a small dollar amount compared to someone else at the table and we have a good repetoire, I'll ask if they want me to hit or stand as I usually sit at third base. I'll take their advice and if they win, they occasionally will tip or at least replace the bet if I lose mine. I've given other players money for doing the same.
