Other Car Rental Programs/Partners (ie. Alamo, Enterprise, Sixt) - Alamo prices different based on where i live?

I want to rent a car with Alamo in the USA and I've noticed they ask for where I live. If I say I live in Spain they'll try to charge for the same service and car DOUBLE that if I say I live in the UK.
What's the reasoning behind that?
I'm going to say I live in the UK, do you think I'll have any problems at rental location?
At least, if they asked for my nationality they could ask for the passport, but asking for where I live seems unpractical as I might be living there for a couple of months ;)

They target different marketing programs and rates based on the country of origin but as an employee of Alamo, I can assure you, pick the best rate available to you. Your country of origin is only for tracking and marketing purposes (and to provide you the quote and exchange rate in your currency) but there will be no issue upon pick up if your origin is different than that booked.

There seems to be one practical benefit of the differential pricing...
If I book as an Australian I am automatically quoted "all in" prices (including LDW/CDW which I must have as I can get no coverage with Aussie CC's etc)
Seeems to work out as a better deal than trying to book as an American then adding the per day LDW cost...

Well, thanks a lot for the information, it really makes a difference on the price.
Since you work for Alamo, maybe you can solve a couple of questions I can't find the answer for in the website. This is what booking as UK includes:
Inclusive Rate Items
Unlimited Distance-time & Distance Included
Collision Damage Waiver Full Included
Extended Protection Included
Airport Concession Fee Recovery Included
State Imposed Rental Fee 2 % Included
Veh License Fee Recovery .22/day Included
Motor Vehicle Rental Tax (8.0%) $22.31
Guaranteed Base Rate Included
Unlimited Miles Included
I can't seem to find TP or even the fee for an additional driver on the website.
Do you know what the usual rate for these is?
Does the CDW Full waive the renter for the total amount in case of loss or accident?
Does the CDW Full apply in case of theft?
I really find confusing these rates aren't visible in Alamo's website.

That very same thing happens if I book as from UK, but I've just checked and at least for my destination (IAD) it looks like it's way cheaper booking as UK than AUS.

Thanks!

I cant answer 100% without knowing what city this is for. CDW typically includes a zero deductible and would cover theft in North America. Addl driver fees vary but would be in the $10-$11/day range.

Well, this is for IAD, Washington DC.
I already made the reservation as I wanted to take advantage of a coupon for a free upgrade, but if you answer it'd be great.

Well, I found the addl driver price in the uk website: 163$ for the rental period, that makes it about 10$ a day.
Is there any reason why I can't prepay my reservation online?
If I try to book it through alamo.co.uk it asks for my CC info, but alamo.com doesn't.
I might look paranoid, but I don't want to get there and that they try to change the rental fees because of where I live.

For posterity... as rentalguy said, no problems at all in Alamo with my "british" booking. Paid the booked fare and everything worked smoothly.
So book from whatever country you want, they won't ask you anything.
